C.I.A. Director Airs Concern That Putin Might Turn to Nuclear Weapons
NY Times ^ | April 14, 2022 | David E. Sanger and Julian E. Barnes

The director of the C.I.A. said on Thursday that “potential desperation” to extract the semblance of a victory in Ukraine could tempt President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia to order the use of a tactical or low-yield nuclear weapon, publicly discussing for the first time a concern that has coursed through the White House during seven weeks of conflict.

The director, William J. Burns, who served as American ambassador to Russia and is the member of the administration who has dealt most often with Mr. Putin, said the potential detonation of such a weapon — even as a warning shot — was a possibility that the United States remained “very concerned” about

Is Prison Face still running the CIA?

Is the CIA an existential threat to the USA?

WTF ever.

Fokking

Idiots

You have a piss poor record on intelligence.

In fact, I’d call you stupid but, that would be redundant, since you and everyone else already know....

So is Deep State looking for an excuse to play with their toys? They were going to do it first would be the excuse.

The policy of NATO moving east towards Russia and the prodding of Russia began in 1997 during the Clinton Administration.

I guess Joe Biden is bringing it to its natural conclusion.

I don’t buy it - more propaganda from the “don’t poke the bear” crowd that dominates this administration.

The bigger risk is chemical weapons as Putin does not find any red lines credible after Syria. Plus putin will have no problem grinding out land victories in the east where his supply lines are stronger. Ukraine will have difficulty moving troops that are otherwise needed to defend Kiev and Russians don’t care about completely obliterating Ukraine cities.

So in short, there is no need for Putin to use nukes and risk potential consequences when the current strategy has no risk.

Putin has already said an “existential” attack on Russia will be responded to.

He said those who do so will be dealt with they will regret doing so.

If you mean first use of nukes OMG.

No. No nuclear war for Ukraine, especially over a “might”.

Think of the end game here. Russia ends up using nuclear weapons in Ukraine. What can we do about it? I feel for the people of Ukraine but it is not worth getting USA nuked over it.

Putin will attempt to conquer Ukrainian territory up to the Dnieper River.

Flag of Novorossiya The blue-red proposed flag of the self-proclaimed confederation of Novorossiya (or New Russia) is a variant of the battle flag which was adopted on 24 May 2014, with the addition of the coat of arms.

And here we are, in a position where no one in their right mind would trust anything that any part of this government says. Biden’s acknowledged that they just make $#!+ up and consider that a good thing, so the entire show is utterly useless. We might as well cancel the entire budget, spend it on chocolate chip ice cream for the masses, and fly blind. We are anyway.

I’m much more worried about our State Department and CIA then I am Russia.

The DC crowd has proved over the last 4 years they can’t be trusted.

The Ukraine chess piece has been a NATO pawn for too long. The Russian congress vote to move into Ukraine to stop the aggression.

Putin may be crazy but he is not stupid.
He knows that the general prevailing weather pattern goes from west to east. If he lets loose a nuke no matter what size his own people will be poisoned from the fallout.
This is another line of scare tactic BS put out by the CIA.

Step 4 in full view.

Step 1. If you can’t convince them, confuse them.

Step 2. If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle
them with bull$hit.

Step 3. If you can’t win, cheat.

Step 4. If all of the above doesn’t work come up with
something that will scare and threaten them.
