LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Governor Steve Sisolak launched the “Home Means Nevada” initiative Thursday morning by announcing a $500 million program for affordable housing in Nevada.
It will be the single largest investment in affordable housing in the state’s history and will complement the $300.7 million earmarked by the Nevada Housing Division earmarked for affordable housing projects through its tax-exempt bonding authority.

Government money + “affordable” housing = $***hole, every time it’s tried.
Plenty of walking around money and kickbacks for scumbags though.
Affordable houses that cost more than the average house.
Affordable housing.
Dumps.
Put them in Yucca Mtn.
Of course it is.
Ain’t much “affordable” housing in NevaDUH these daze. Heard on the news yesterday the median house price here in Reno has hit $600k. At least Amazon is paying $15/hr now. Might be some bargains out near BFE.
I guess its time to do “The Projects” again.
My Uncle had a house in a nice Polish neighborhood. The had Polish festivals and church events outside and sat on their porches in the evening talking to each other. The children played ball on the streets.
Then they built ‘the projects’ literally across the street. And filled them with welfare people.
Within just a couple of years his property value went to nothing. The area was crime infested. All the copper tubing was torn out. ‘The projects’ became filthy and needed to be torn down within 20 years.
You could not leave your door unlocked or your car outside at night.
I remember calculating that they could have GIVEN each resident a $200,000 house for the money they spent (and this was when you could buy a very nice house for less than 50k in that area)
So... let’s try that again.
Like the $300,000 dollar small houses for the homeless in californicate. Or $200,00 for some used trailer houses?
Goodbye safe suburb.
Hello dangerous hood.
Like here in WA; the city council wants to spend like $84/sq ft for homeless shelters where a house for regular folks runs around $50 or so.
The prices already are low compared to say California.

As earlier, median price in Reno is now $600k. Median.
