WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is bracing for Tuesday’s key consumer inflation report to show that the prices Americans pay soared in March, as Russia’s assault on Ukraine caused energy prices to jump.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki said Monday that the Labor Department’s previous report – which showed prices rising at a dramatic rate in February – failed to include the majority of the jump in oil and gas costs caused by the Kremlin’s unprovoked invasion.

Extraordinary is the new unexpected.
Very helpful, good to know. These people are on the ball.
My Walmart deli chicken wings went from 6.89/lb to 9.99/lb.
Too pricey for me...and for many others from what I see as they lay there withering under the infrared.
That can’t be...all of those Nobel laureate economists said that printing and spending lots of money would make inflation go away???
Oh yeah...just yesterday I bought a small bag of M&M’s candy at the grocery check out: $3.99!!! I would have returned it except that the gas and the hwy tolls would have cost more than the candy.
Shouldn’t a war that affects the entire globe cause a recession Joe???
You obviously botched something bigtime.....
wow!
we have a few items we can report too, over last couple months:
pint of egg salad from 4.99 to 6.99 then to 11.99
gas 3.19 or 3.29 now 6.09 to 6.39
little tv dinners were 1.00 now 2.00 to 2.49
Chinese lunch in small plain strip mall joint, for 2 (no drinks, no desserts, no side dishes) just egg foo young and chicken chow mein, 50 bucks when tip included
concert tickets now up to $285 for regular seats
good burger joint burger up from around $8 to now over $11
and their fries are up from 5.99 large to around 7.99
breakfast (burger patty and two eggs) no drink $25
and so it goes, “normal” people (economically speaking) are being squeezed squeezed squeezed some more
which appears to be the plan
They just start lying right out of the box.
In the 70’s, Carter was just incompetent.
Now in the 2020’s, PedoJoe is just pure evil.
They know exactly what they’re doing - the complete destruction of America.
How much chicken are you talking about
2.5 lbs
my favorite frozen chicken breast went from 7.99 to 12.99 in a month.
I didn’t pay much attention prior but now, sliced roast beef is $15.99 per pound in Oklahoma City.
(Gonna need to defrost a possum from the freezer in the garage if this keeps up!).
Instead of robbing the pharmacy, crooks gonna be robbing the deli department.
Ghosts of Baghdad Bob continue to insist its not your all’s fault, at all......./s
Good.
and just how much higher do you think the people can afford???
Where are the articles about our retirement savings/investments being wiped out?
Gas is way up here-$4.00 or close to it-even in this rural area-I’ve put some “I did that” stickers on gas pumps-and most already had at least one on it-no one is getting pissed or calling the sheriff over that here-I guess we are all realists with a sense of dark humor...
I don’t eat take-out/precooked/processed food-only buy and cook fresh-we are lucky most veggies are produced organically, in this state-same with the grass fed/free range meat, so it is not as expensive as factory farm and feedlot stuff-but it is still high-80-20 ground beef is up $1 per lb in 2 months, ribeye steaks are 12.99 per lb on “special”-even chicken legs are up nearly $1 per lb, and pork chops a king’s ransom. Fresh veggies like spinach, kale, mustard greens are $1.69 per bunch-up from $1.29 in about 5 weeks- brussels sprouts, broccoli, etc can’t be touched for less than 2.49 lb. The local organic farm-to-table restaurant is not affordable right now, either-bummer-and it is the beginning of the tourist season here, too-business is really going to be down for all of us-lets go Brandon...
So, everyone still thinks the dems care about Ukrainian people? They would kill their own family for power, let alone unwashed Ukrainian people. They have successfully pinned all their economic policies on Russia. Bonus, imagine if they pick Putin’s placement.
You’re doing better on the inflation front than we are. Congrats!
Funny how I like spinach but detest kale. Ha!
Understood
I like kale best steamed with spinach or arugula, rather than alone-it just isn’t as tasty as most greens...
Prices here are not as high as in a lot of other states in good times, either-we grow a lot of veggies, fruit and raise a lot of livestock in rural areas like this one-non-local produce-fancy stuff like avocados, snow peas, exotic fruits, etc is really expensive-probably because most of it is trucked in from Cali-grown there because it doesn’t get as cold as it does here...
