The post office does have a federal law enforcement division, traditionally for mail fraud crime and the like, but you’d think attacking a postal worker would be a priority for them.

On the other had, they probably would just shoot the dog

Wow. Mail service is one of those things which deliniates civilization from failure of society.

Several "nice" states are run by gangs of criminals.

California, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts, etc.

“Californians fed up with BOTH political parties as crime crisis spirals in Golden State”

Both political parties? California has Republicans? Or are they imagining that IF California had Republicans they would be “Sorosizing” their law enforcement and justice systems as did the Democrats they voted for. Urban Californians have themselves to blame for the mess they voted for.

There is a precedent for the US Marines to guard the mail:

I know that area and it’s a quiet neighborhood, devoid of obama kids and ghetto animals. I’m more surprised that it’s not border Venice Beach area where the homeless took over large spots on the beach pissing off the locals.

From the article the General Orders for how the Marines are to conduct themselves:

“To the Men of the Mail Guard, you must when on guard duty, keep your weapons in hand and, if attacked, shoot and shoot to kill. If two Marines are covered by a robber, neither must put up his hands, but both must immediately go for their guns. One may die, but the other will get the robber, and the mail will get through. When our Corps goes in as guards over the mail, that mail must be delivered, or there must be a Marine dead at the post of duty. There can be no compromise.”

Nah. Disband the post office. It's an inefficient and corrupt govt entity (is there any other kind?) anyway.

Privatize mail delivery. Let private enterprise provide armed escorts and charge accordingly.

On the plus side, I'll stop getting so much junk mail.

The next news story will have Mad Maxine complaining that California cannot deliver Mail-In ballots to vacant lots in Santa Monica.

This is a great opportunity to ridicule and criticize the gubnar, two US Senators, and especially the House member who represents this neighborhood. Demand to know what they are doing about the attack on our hallowed institution that is specifically named in the Constitution.

Its all about the pronouns. Just change “Mail carriers” to “He/She/It/They carriers” and all will be fine.

Well, the mail carrier should have the option of not delivering mail in certain circumstances. If the addressee is named “LaQuisha” or “D’acqTivon”, the carrier should just pass on by.

Excellent. Throw their mail out in the street as you drive by. Animals shouldn’t be treated like human beings.

When I was in college I was a summer mailman. I was often put into the most horrible neighborhoods and it was a nightmare on “check day.” And it got worse during the years when there was a state budget delay causing the checks to be delayed.

I would be followed on the streets by a small mob, looking to get their checks.

I can only imagine the situation today. (I know the checks are all electronic now...but the peoples’ behavior is worse.)

> Imagine being a pizza delivery guy in those areas. <

Awhile back I was listening to this comedian talking about growing up in Chicago. He said he worked his way through college by being the tail gunner on a pizza delivery van.

Funny stuff. But maybe also predictive.
