ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) -Due to a driver shortage, the City of Albany announced that they will have to shutdown the Blue Line public transportation.
The shutdown will be between 8:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. and will begin Monday, April 11.
The shutdown will last throughout the week, contingent upon driver availability. City officials said the riding public should consider service interruptions in their trip planning.
We went to Chili’s yesterday for lunch and it’s dining room was closed. Sign on door said ‘Labor shortage’. They had takeout only, and took 35 minutes.............
Let’s see. Drive a municipal bus through the ‘hood in Al BENNY. Or start at over $100k at Walmart.
Good point. Same CDL in many states. Don’t know about Georgia though.
When I lived in Americus for a while, everybody thought Awl-Binny was the Big City.
They can spend millions on plug in buses but not a bit more to attract drivers
The bus don’t go there...
“...everybody thought Awl-Binny was the Big City.”
Awl’beny is not allowed to change. Its exactly by plan. What used to be small surrounding communities like Valdosta, Tifton, Thomasville, etc have long ago eclipsed the ever sinking awl’beny. It is the hood meca.
Albany was my second home growing up. Most of my mom’s family was there - great great grandfather Nelson Tift founded the city. I LOVED the place - it was so beautiful and I have such fond memories of my childhood there. My cousins have all moved - it’s just not safe, which is such a shame.
Didn’t the $15 an hour min wage get signed nationally? And they still can’t find help? I see Walmart is hiring drivers for almost $100,000 a year because of driver shortages- they have a good retirement package too, but they are a scum company.
“Al BENNY”
LOL!
Absolutely PERFECT pronunciation.
(Stationed at NAS Al BENNY, ‘71-74, the “Official Armpit of the South”)
Parts of Albany are a warzone. The mall is actually in bankruptcy.
No one can afford the private school and the public schools are sketchy.
Gangs roam neighborhoods looking for things to steal. (Even the upper class areas).
I don’t know how anyone wants to continue to live there.
“Should Consider ‘interruptions’ in your travel” ?????
The Dems have pushed for years to FORCE people onto mass transit-—
THEN they SHUT down MASS TRANSIT.......
Glad I still have my horses if ncessary.
Don’t know how Deerfield exists. Since I haven’t been there for ages, is Doublegate the only expensive neighborhood? Are there any nice places left? My grandparents had a landmark home on Jefferson by the hospital - tore it down in the 70s and rebuilt on Lullwater. One uncle lived at Kinchafoonee Creek, the other lived at Doublegate.
The mass exodus to Lee County started about 20 years ago.
Doublegate is still there but homeowners get jacked all the time.
DWS exists but it costs a fortune to attend.
My g-parents lived in Lake Park, right near the elem school way back when.
