A Danish soldier who volunteered to fight alongside the Ukrainian armed forces has made unverified claims that Ukrainian soldiers have been executing Russian prisoners of war.
The Dane, who uses the pseudonym Jonas, has alleged that Ukrainian soldiers have killed Russian prisoners of war during the war, saying: “I have heard of one successful prisoner exchange, and that’s it,” and adding: “People are being killed.”
Said to be a marksman, Jonas travelled to Ukraine to volunteer to fight alongside the Ukrainian armed forces and told state-owned Danish broadcaster TV2 he has also killed Russian soldiers — but never any captured prisoners.
He told the broadcaster of an 18-year-old Russian prisoner of war who told him he had worked as a compute programmer in Russia prior to the war and did not want to be in Ukraine. According to Jonas, the teen was buried the next day after being killed.
TV2 admitted that they had no way to confirm whether or not the Danish volunteer’s claims were accurate but still cited prior claims of similar behaviour by the Ukrainian armed forces.
Last month the official Facebook page of the Command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine implied that surrendering Russian gunners would be executed, which in itself would be a war crime.
“From now on, there will be no more captured Russian artillerymen. No mercy, no ‘please do not kill, I surrender’ will not pass,” the post stated, adding that such Russians would be “slaughtered like pigs.”
Unverified videos have emerged allegedly showing Ukrainian soldiers killing surrendered Russian soldiers, including one published this week allegedly showing a Ukrainian soldier shooting and killing a wounded Russian soldier near Kyiv.

Denmark is a flat, small land. The highest elevation is about 900 feet.
They could not defend themselves.
But they did hold out long enough to save all of their Jews by sending them to Sweden
Unfortunately, the days of reasoned discussions on freerepublic seem to be over.
Good !
Every single Russian POW should be executed .
No quarter . Let none survive . Let none go home .
Not one .
Stack them up . Incinerate them .
Especially the Chechens
Go after the Russian columns with napalm .
Russian crispy critters . All of them.
The Last Jew in Vinnitsa
is a photograph taken during the Holocaust in Ukraine showing a Jewish man near the town of Vinnitsa (Vinnytsia) about to be shot dead by a member of Einsatzgruppe D, a mobile death squad of the Nazi SS. The victim is kneeling beside a mass grave already containing bodies; behind, a group of SS and Reich Labour Service men watch
Why did they take his picture, and not the others in that mass grave?
Yes, I have come to the same conclusion after watching the streaming series, “Seaside Hotel.”
Gutless wonders they are.
It’s no wonder.
They are the descendants of the brutal barbarian hordes.
Any chance of you answering, substantively answering, any of the direct questions I have asked you in the past couple of weeks? I mean rather than changing the subject, responding with a question of your own, or referencing authorities of which you claim to be aware, but never provide a link to? No? I thought not.
But hey, keep plugging away for the cause. If Tsar Vladimir Kleptikos manages to not blow up the world in his efforts to keep his fellow kleptocrats doing to him what the Fascist Grand Council did to Mussolini, for the same reasons, perhaps there is an Aluminum Star of the Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation in your future.
Do you realize how stupid you look like? I ask you a question related to the discussion, you turn it into a personal attack and claim I am not answering.
The bullshit is getting thicker by the day.
Meaning what? These guys aren't Russians? I know on other threads you assert the ability to distinguish Russian and Ukrainian. Are they Russian? Ukrainian? Botswanan?
Why the images appeared 3 days after the Russian withdrawal, after Ukraine declared the operation to “clear the collaborators”?
There is a video of the operation uploaded more than once here. You can hear a command to shoot everyone who isn’t the Ukrainian military and a man begging not to kill him in the background.
Now the recent “Russian” missile attack on Kramatorsk rail station. The missile for some reason is Ukrainian and with the serial matching the batch used by Ukraine to fire on multiple Donbas targets. More so, the missile flew from the Ukrainian positions.
Good
I am shocked.
I don’t believe anything, from any news source, concerning this war.
Invade my country, kill my people, be captured and expect NOT to be killed? Good luck with that!
That seed was already planted after the Maidan. Ever hear the chilling speech Poroshenko gave about the Russian speaking population in the Donbass who had voted for autonomy like Crimea? It included such heart warming lines as “our children will go to daycare and school while their children will live in cellars...,” which pretty much has been the case. This is what Ukrainians were in favor of doing to their fellow citizens BEFORE this war. Nice bunch of folks you’re rooting for.
I’m not rooting for either side. I’ve stated that here many times.
“Two scorpions in a bottle’’ is what I’ve been saying.
Pay attention.
There are way too many pathetic keyboard warriors on FR who have read every Tom Clancy book written or played Call of Duty every night. Now they’re calling for the death of every Russian in Ukraine, civilian or not, instead of praying for a quick resolution to this war with as little loss of life as possible. It’s shameful.
Your comments continue to blame Putin for instilling hatred for Russians in Ukrainians because of this war while ignoring the fact that Zelenskyy should be blamed as well for instilling hatred for Ukrainians in Russians. It goes both ways.
