Danish Volunteer Soldier Alleges Ukrainians Have Executed Russian Prisoners
breitbart ^ | 10 Apr 2022 | CHRIS TOMLINSON

A Danish soldier who volunteered to fight alongside the Ukrainian armed forces has made unverified claims that Ukrainian soldiers have been executing Russian prisoners of war.

The Dane, who uses the pseudonym Jonas, has alleged that Ukrainian soldiers have killed Russian prisoners of war during the war, saying: “I have heard of one successful prisoner exchange, and that’s it,” and adding: “People are being killed.”

Said to be a marksman, Jonas travelled to Ukraine to volunteer to fight alongside the Ukrainian armed forces and told state-owned Danish broadcaster TV2 he has also killed Russian soldiers — but never any captured prisoners.

He told the broadcaster of an 18-year-old Russian prisoner of war who told him he had worked as a compute programmer in Russia prior to the war and did not want to be in Ukraine. According to Jonas, the teen was buried the next day after being killed.

TV2 admitted that they had no way to confirm whether or not the Danish volunteer’s claims were accurate but still cited prior claims of similar behaviour by the Ukrainian armed forces.

Last month the official Facebook page of the Command of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine implied that surrendering Russian gunners would be executed, which in itself would be a war crime.

“From now on, there will be no more captured Russian artillerymen. No mercy, no ‘please do not kill, I surrender’ will not pass,” the post stated, adding that such Russians would be “slaughtered like pigs.”

Unverified videos have emerged allegedly showing Ukrainian soldiers killing surrendered Russian soldiers, including one published this week allegedly showing a Ukrainian soldier shooting and killing a wounded Russian soldier near Kyiv.

Denmark is a little country, a gnat compared to Germany. I guess there was a Danish resistance. War is hell and it’s hard to stay neutral when you’re in the middle of it.

I expect those who lost their families to be pissed off to the max.

But, you are always quick to scream “NAZIS!” just as if you were a trained seal. Don’t you think the separatists in Donbas have killed civilians, too? How do you think THOSE families feel?

You claim “there is a lot of demonstrated evidence that Russia hasn’t been trying to kill civilians and has carefully kept to targeting military sites.” The Russians f**king INVADED a neighboring country who posed no threat to Russia. So, anything stemming from that invasion is on Russia’s shoulders.

You trot out the NAZIS! slander so readily that you don’t even realize that Putin used the EXACT same pretext for invasion that the REAL Nazi Adolph Hitler used when he invaded Poland on September 1, 1939. Hitler’s excuse was Germany had to rescue and protect ethnic Germans who were in Poland; Putin said he had to rescue and protect ethnic Russians in Ukraine.

There have been several instances of Azov Battalion Nazis posting their torture and murder of Russian POW’s online. There’s no question they are doing it. I have yet to see counter examples but I have no doubt now the Russians will respond in kind toward a lot of Ukrainian POWs.

and for the record, these are crimes. Ukraine is a signatory to the Geneva Convention. Those committing such acts are unquestionably war criminals.

It’s not a war crime if WE do it....

Last I checked, no one is required to accept a surrender and take POW's. Then there is also the issue of a POW's status when they are about to be liberated by an advance. Frequently, they are executed in that situation even if it is against the Conventions.

“But you’re no propagandist, are you? “

Nope, just telling it like it is. Sadly.

When soldiers see their comrades killed in battle they can become ruthless and this is a war crime of an individual albeit rarely prosecuted.

When commanders make this accepted policy for their soldiers it is a crime against humanity. We hung them at Nuremberg.

That is how war works. There is no glory. It is death, it is survival and sometimes heinous acts. For example if someone killed, raped, or executed my wife if I could get away with it I would take the individual out. This same logic happens on the battlefield.

I didn't say I thought it was OK. I only meant it was inevitable, given Russian actions in Ukraine.

Every time I see some Russian or Ukrainian kid in uniform lying dead I can only think what a tragic waste. But my sympathies lie with the Ukrainians who are fighting for their homes and their right to live a normal life free of Putin's Great Russian fascism.

As far as the Russians executing Ukrainian prisoners, I'm sure they have already executed a lot of them. But since they are probably being killed near where they fought, it's hard to tell if they were executed or killed in combat. Plus I think in many cases the Ukrainians know what kind of treatment they will receive, so they tend to fight until they are killed anyway. There was report I saw earlier today that a Ukrainian radio operator blew himself up along with the Russians closing in on him in Mariupol. I would expect more of this.

If you don’t think the same would happen here if we were invaded, you’re dreaming

If Russia invaded America, first we shoot the Russians, then kill their collaborators.

In some places, at some times, blood can be washed away only with blood. The area between the Baltic and Black Seas is one of those places. I am surprised, but not shocked, that we are living in one of those times.

The book Bloodlands provides a harrowing account of the approximately 15 million deaths in the area, from 1931-45, that so warped the psyche of the inhabitants that the passage of 3/4 of a century has them picking up where their ancestors left off.

Hey Mayór, I see you are still assiduously peddling the “Russians don’t commit war crimes “ lie. Are you receiving any recognition for all of your hard work? Hero of the Soviet Union Russian Federation Third Class maybe?

It also happens to be the reality of eastern Europeans.

Pretty brutal folks. No too long on ‘’smarts’’(people skills).

Spot on post.

And what ever else Putin gains from this slaughter he has planted the seed of Ukrainian hatred of all things Russian for the next thousand years. A thousand generations of Ukrainians are going to be raised to avenge this.

No one is fighting to change things here now as bad as it is.

I don’t see many fighting off Russians. Americans are pretty complacent in the general population, not like the colonists who attacked a governor’s house for the Stamp Act.

Ukraine has a long and hard history with Russia for a thousand years, and basically the Ukrainians are the same ethnicity, (till the start of 2014 color revolution, but those people are fleeing, not helping them fight back..
