The war in Ukraine has threatened to worsen an already concerning shortage in semiconductor chips.
"Three of the major companies in the world [for neon] are based between Mariupol, which has been ravaged by the war, and there’s two, I believe, in Odesa," Dusin Carmack, research fellow for cybersecurity, intelligence and emerging technologies at the Heritage Foundation, told FOX Business. "It’s going to be maybe three to six months before you see major impact … but if this is an extended war, this is going to cause supply chain issues."
The U.S. has suffered a semiconductor shortage that has contributed to supply chain disruptions and further ripples across the economy

The end of the cold war was the start of extreme financialization.
If corporations, wal-mart, apple, Wall Street or whoever could save half a penny by stretching supply-chains, opening borders, consolidating all neon production in Ukraine, or PPE in China, etc. etc.. - they did it.
It also meant government could suppress interest rates and spend even more on woke social-engineering schemes.
Now we will spend the next couple decades reversing all this.
Ergo, greater chip shortage.
Unexpected collateral damage: Wisconsin cow chip throwing contest scaled back or cancelled.
Guess they should have tried to come up with a peaceful solution to the invasion. Since they did not I assume they wanted this to happen.
So?
Not that long ago, there was no common such thing as these.
I would really LOVE to see what would happen if this world had to function without these things.
Lay’s is going to have to step up their output before the “munchie” people start rioting.
Still find it hard to believe that one tiny corner of Ukraine is the World’s only source for neon
Neon is a major component of air and can be produced by cryogenic separation relatively easily. There is no compelling reason why much of it has to come from Ukraine that I can see.
Ukraine and Russia don’t design or fab microprocessors.
Faux News would know this if they took time off from their “busy” schedules and did 5 min of quick research.
Major is an overstatement. 18 PPM. The biggest component of air after CO2.
Okay, now we know our vulnerabilities. What are we going to do about them? And we need to start now — immediately!
But Taiwan does.
