The head of the Luhansk regional military administration Serhii Haidai told what course of events he expects during the battle for Donbas

He told about it in an interview with Ukrainian Pravda, reported by Censor.NET.

"We understand that there will be an offensive in the near future. There will be a huge battle for Donbas. We see that there is an accumulation of forces and resources. A huge amount of equipment. Well, we are preparing," he said.

Gaidai noted that the invaders need "at least some victory." Therefore, they will try to reach the geographical borders of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.

"I think there will be something like this: a massive shelling will begin at around 3-4 o'clock in the morning. Heavy and large-caliber mortars, artillery, aircraft, MLRS, Grad, Smerch, Uragan will be used." "Tochka-U", "Tochka-B". They will use everything they have. It will last for several hours in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and then they will go on the offensive with a huge number of tanks and infantry," Haidai said.

The head of the Regional Military Administration noted that the Russians will not be able to advance from the north, south and east at the same time - there will not be enough forces and means.

"I think a few days, and they will go on the offensive. The negotiation process will depend on how this offensive will develop," he added.

Russia still using WWII tactics?

Lumbering tanks and Katyusha rocket barrages? While Ukraine goes high-tech ...

Remember that old saying about “the side that insists on re-fighting the last war is doomed to lose”?

You've got.to have a serious superiority in troops and equipment for something like that to work. And it is going to be harder than usual because western intelligence is pretty much going to be able to pinpoint the Russian troop co.cemtrations and axes of advance.

No surprise, no hitting the Ukrainians off balance. Just hey diddle diddle, straight up the middle. Going to be bloody.

So true!

It won’t be a tank vs tank battle like Kursk, it will be artillery (tube and rocket) vs artillery. Here, Russia has a massive edge in quality and quantity, accuracy, etc.

Armored vehicles including tanks will move into the beaten zones for mopping up and consolidating gains.

“Saker” is clearly slanted, but a lot of good information is here:

They're using 1960 tactics. The Russians roll up in their BMP's and the troops dismount to engage. The Ukrainians then kill the BMP, and the Russians scatter.

Fuel especially will be critical to the “Battle of the Donbass Cauldron”

Tanks, APCs, artillery, MRLS weapons etc are useless if they can’t move.

I was under the impression that Russian troops rolled into the Donbas territories on Day One of the war without any resistance at all.

These are pro-Russian territories. Why do they need a massive invasion if they already occupied these areas?

Thanks in advance for correcting me if I have misunderstood something.

Of course it will be bloody, that’s Russia’s style

Russia doesn’t care about civilian casualties, in fact they probably try to maximize them so the defenders will give up in despair

But in this case I think Russia will run into a buzzsaw, the same mix of high-tech weapons and determined defenders that repelled them in Kiev

The Ukies might emulate Rommel in the desert. He engaged British advances. Had his armor and infantry fall back and hit the advancing Brits with his camoed 88s. Fast firing and deadly accurate.
Sadat’s troops did it in 72 with Saggers. Given the quantity and quality of the Javelins and the Brit weapon the Ukies could be making similar plans. But if I think this, so do the Russians. And so it goes.

The problem in understanding the true conditions of this war lie in the completely lopsided propaganda and information flow.

If one Ukrainian takes out a couple Russian tanks with a US supplied Javelin, its celebrated by every corporate, deep-state media in the West. The Daily Mail comes to mind.

Meanwhile, there are up to 80K Ukraine troops, who apparantly are surrounded in Donbas, and have been for 6 weeks. One would assume they are running out of food, fuel and ammo. Not a peep about them from Ukraine or Russia.

You’re horribly misinformed about this war and Russia. I suggest you listen to other sources before posting misinformation like this. And the voices in your head don’t count. 🤣

As well, they may also use drones against high value assets. Think Switchblade drones against some of the more feared artillery pieces, electronic warfare units, and the like. Also, small recon drones to pick up troop concentrations, targets of opportunity and so on. The Russians may pay a very high price.

Every Russian general wants to be Zhukov. They will lose a lot of people and equipment to no purpose.

Right now the BIG BATTLE seems more media hype than a real possibility. Media hyping it as biggest battle since WWII.

Summaries from various videos.
First of all Pootie has appointed a new General (Aleksandr Dvornikov) for the Southern region to take overall command.

How the other generals are going to react to this new situation is a good question, as they are used to doing things their way with no oversight.

Who is Aleksandr Dvornikov? He was a commander during the Chechnya operation, then moved on to take a command during the Syrian operation.

If you’ve seen Grozny or Aleppo, then you have seen his work. He is known as a butcher of civilians and is close to Pootie. He, like the rest of the Russian military, do not obey any rules of war or Conventions. Terror is their main tactic.

However, during both those operations above, he mostly commanded VKF (air force) operations, not large battle units of varying composition across a large battle front, manned by exhausted, worn out, low moral troops.

He will be under pressure to carry out some sort of victorious operation before May 9 which is Russia’s WWII Victory Day.
He is stuck with not many good troops, no reserves, dubious replenishment from weakened exhausted Kiev area. Of the 120 BTGs Russia put into Ukraine, 20-30 have been destroyed.

Assessments
Russians will try to split off the section of Ukraine from Kharkiv to Odessa.

UA needs to attack Southern area to force Russians to respond to them. Use small unit hit and run tactics

Ukraine Army news
UA troops in good spirits and morale. Capable commander of US 59th dismissed over argument with civil authorities or over the 59th’s failed retaking of coastal area. Transferred to Donbas region.
