Georgia GOP gubernatorial clash: Gov. Kemp and Trump-backed challenger Perdue to face off at debates

ATLANTA - Republican Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia and his top GOP challenger, former Sen. David Perdue, will debate three times ahead of next month’s primary in their high-profile and combustible intra-party face off, their campaigns announced on Wednesday.

The debates are an April 24th showdown hosted by WSB-TV, an April 28th debate hosted by WTOC/Gray TV, and a May 1 face off hosted by the Atlanta Press Club and Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Perdue, with the backing of former President Donald Trump, is primary challenging Kemp, but trails the incumbent governor in two key campaign metrics — public opinion polling and fundraising — with just under seven weeks to go until Georgia’s May 24 primary.

Perdue trailed Kemp in recent public opinion surveys, including a Fox News poll conducted March 2-6 that indicated Kemp led Perdue by 11 points among Republicans likely to vote in the primary. But all the surveys were conducted before Perdue teamed up with Trump at a rally in Commerce, Georgia, on March 26.

The former senator told Fox News in an interview on Tuesday that he "absolutely" got a political bump out of the rally. Perdue added that ahead of the former president’s rally, "only about half of Republicans in the state understood that I had Trump’s endorsement. He wanted to make sure he laid that down with no misunderstanding. So that was huge thing."

Perdue told Fox News that Trump is "going to do whatever it takes to win this thing."

If Kemp or Raffensburger gets re-elected in November, they will allow the Dems to steal the 2024 election if Trump runs again.

GA has open primaries, so Democrats will flood in to vote in the Republican primary for Kemp and Raffensburger. After all, if a Democrat loses the general, then getting a RINO traitor is a wash for the Dems.

My personal feeling is that Kemp and Raffensburger are toast. If they happen to survive their respective primaries, it will only be due to Democrat cross-over votes. Trump voters will not turn out for them in the general.

So the conservative in the rave, Kandiss Taylor, is not going to be allowed to participate in the first two debates. Unbelievable and infuriating.

Kemp and Perdue (Kemp light) are the “chosen ones”. Once again, the conservative is forced to the sidelines. At least Taylor has a good ground game, I have seen her campaign around.

The Kemp campaign has an ad out blaming Perdue of doing business with China. Doubtful Perdue will even fight back, but what people need to know is Kemps hands are dirty with Chinese money:

Like South Carolina Republicans and Texas Republicans, they like their Bush League Republicans.

Both candidates have their problems. Stacy is awaiting the Republican circular firing squad to kill-off whoever gets the nomination.

We, the United States and Georgia, need Kandiss Taylor up there.

Enough with the two RINOs who will never be able to beat Abrams.

HELP ME SAVE
GEORGIA!

JESUS, GUNS, AND BABIES

MORALITY OVER MONEY!

Gun Rights

#1 Rule of gun safety: Carry one

As your Governor, I will ensure that every Georgian maintains their constitutional right to protect themselves— a right written into the foundation of our country as the 2nd amendment. Without the ability to bear arms we are vulnerable to a tyrannical government. Constitutional carry will be my first order of business as your Georgia Governor

Election Reform

Voting is our highest right

I am the only candidate fighting for election integrity. We can’t expect fraud to go away by using the same process we did in the 2020 election. As your governor, I will secure our elections by removing Dominion machines and drop boxes. The people of Georgia want paper ballots.

Immigration

Let ICE do their job!

Quit handcuffing our immigration and customs enforcement officers. No Sanctuary Cities or Counties in Georgia. Protect our GA ports of entry.

Education

Our children come first

Critical Race Theory, Comprehensive Sex Education, and Social Emotional Learning have no place in our Georgia schools. These programs are rooted in oppression, making students feel victimized and uncomfortable. We must protect our children and establish a learning environment where they can practice patriotism.

Pro Life

Jesus came to bring abundant life

As your Georgia Governor, I will ceaselessly defend the right to life for all children in Georgia, from the moment they begin to develop, and make sure that they have abundant opportunities to thrive in this beautiful state. Life begins at conception which is why I intend to not only criminalize abortion when there’s a heartbeat, but when there is any proof of pregnancy at all.

Economy

Our workforce is powerful

I intend to focus on Georgia Grown, infrastructure, and economic development across the state. One of the largest industries in our state economy is farming. Not only is agriculture vital to the wellbeing and survival of Georgians, but 1/7 of the jobs in this state are in the farming sector. I will give farmers the attention and aid that they deserve because, without them, there would be no Georgia.

More boring theater.

It is not at all boring, at least for many of us thinking of the future.

The author of this article appears to be squirming in his seat with these two seemingly inconsistent statements:

"The Fox News survey indicated Trump with a 79% favorability rating among Peach State Republicans, with the governor at 68% and Perdue at 66%."
...
"According to the Fox News poll, Perdue leads Kemp 52%-39% among the subgroup of GOP primary voters with a strongly favorable opinion of Trump."

IMO, professional odds-makers will have Kemp and Perdue in a runoff election that Perdue will win; and, that may be the best that GA can reasonably expect (and I am supporting Taylor).

If a solid block of voters recognize the threat Abrams presents on behalf of the American Left, the R's will hold the governorship.

Open primaries are stupid. Why let non-members choose your leadership?

so the debates are to be hosted by a See-BS station, PBS, and a station that used to be a sibling of the Urinal-Constitution....

Yeah, no bias there... at least for a primary debate, it would be nice to see one hosted by OAN or some other conservative site.
