Panic has set in. As the first round of the French presidential election approaches, Emmanuel Macron’s re-election has suddenly been thrown into doubt.
A series of recent polls has put the hard-right Marine Le Pen within spitting distance of the Élysée Palace. This has rattled the Macron campaign, spooked the markets and will no doubt have set alarm bells ringing in Brussels, too.
The Le Pen surge feels like it has come from nowhere. A month ago, she was trailing Macron by around 10 percentage points. Now she looks the most likely candidate to face Macron in the second round of voting – and polling on the second round has a Le Pen victory within the margin of error. Le Pen’s polling is far more favourable than it was in the run-up to the last election, in 2017, when Macron trounced her by 66 per cent to 34 per cent.
This was not part of the plan. Macron was expected to cruise confidently to victory. So convinced was he of his recoronation, he has barely spent any time on the campaign trail. Macron only officially declared his candidacy for re-election at the beginning of last month. Though there was never any doubt he would run again, the repeated delays were a symptom of his aloofness to the small, inconvenient matter of domestic politics. His first rally of the campaign was held only last Saturday.

I just can’t imagine Macron being allowed to lose.
Dominion — or whatever company they use — is about to make a pile of money.
Hopefully…but the deep state/global cabal won’t allow that to happen…
Is Le Pen really hard right or just a typical lefty French women who happens to be a nationalist?
He must have taken ‘arrogance’ lessons from “O’Bozo”.
It worked for HIM!!
Depends on who you ask...she's definitely considered an outsider to the establishment and her National Front party is generally considered to be on the right in France.
Always love it, when a journalist or editor gets writer's block so bad, that they have to call Captain Obvious for help with a headline...
;>)
Sure hope so. I remember how a French work colleague threw a hissy fit when her old man gave them a scare 20 or so years ago. Swore he would leave France, which of course they never do.
When is the election?
That is the most shocking and consequential headline I have seen about European affairs in quite some time. With all the screaming and crying over manipulated day-to-day events people don’t realize their basic freedoms are being eroded quickly.
Tomorrow. I hope LePen wins, if anything for the entertainment value as Brussels flies into a tizzy.
Thanks.
That’s pretty much tonight for us.
I’m curious to see.
“..the deep state/global cabal won’t allow that to happen…”
Exactly. The WEF will get Dominion, or whatever they use there, to ensure Macron stays in “good standing”.
A Le Pen win would definitely throw a wrench in their NWO plans.
First round is tomorrow...then a runoff between the top two candidates set for Apr 24th.
Macron’s stated goal was to piss the French people off.. The anti-vax French people that is.
One Word: D O M I N I O N
I see it this way: here’s a writer with just enough data to have a hunch, but not enough to actually back up a bold claim. So, instead of digging in, and doing the hard analysis that might yield the solid evidence needed to state the headline as a claim, they punted, and put it as a question, instead.
