Fentanyl overdose is now the leading cause of death for US adults ages 18 to 45, according to numbers from the CDC.
Official overdose numbers for 2020 were 40% higher than the previous year. Fentanyl was to blame for 73% of those overdoses. In 2021, preliminary data indicates fentanyl was involved in 77% of overdose deaths.
That 77% is a dramatic increase from the 31% of fentanyl-involved overdose deaths in 2016. The percentage has increased every year since, up to 53% in 2017, 56% in 2018 and 61% in 2019.

What’s stupid is Fent doesn’t give you that heroine high. It’s powerful but not much on the opiate high these idiots are chasing. Does it bind in the receptors nice and tight - yes but cutting it with heroine really doesn’t work great hence the ODs. They chase the high not the opiate dose. It’s just dumb. The junkies want the opiate high and the drug pushers give the a strong opiate with little of the high. It’s like asking for idiocy. We are talking druggies so duh.

On and on and on. I have coached my kids sports teams when they were young 5-16. I only saw one kid that actually benefited from the ADHD drugs. Saw about 10 that turned into walking zombies. Those 10 or so were all getting extra $ for government programs their parents were sucking off to get fatter or lazier.
So those are the ones chasing the Fent dragon tail. They catch it because that is what Fent does.

They are cutting heroin and cocaine and meth with it. Have even heard of it being in some pot.
With heroin, it gives them a super high. Heroin addicts are always looking for that 1st high feeling. Fetanyl helps that. Problem is that when it is mixed, it is unknown how much is in each dose. Then the users hear about someone OD’ing and look for that source cuz it means it is “good”.
Addicts are also trying to avoid getting “sick”.
As an aside, a great many of the deadly overdoses are people who have tried to quit (rehab can cost $30K a month so most have to try cold turkey or some sort of out patient). So, if an addict hasn’t used for awhile and falls off the wagon, their “usual” dose can kill them because their tolerance is not as high.
We lost a wonderful, damaged young woman last year. She had quit and was trying to get her life together. I am guessing one of her so-called friends (people know who but no proof) suggested they party. She did it and her father found her the next morning.
People love to think of addicts as losers and so on. It is easier to think that than to accept that many are not. They have made extremely bad choices and they are ones that are painful to rectify. But for the Grace of God go you or I or any of our loved ones. I wish there were more available resources for those who want out of that cycle.

I have taken hydrocodone plenty of times after surgeries. I always keep a couple extra in case I get an unbearable headache. I honestly do not like the feeling so it is hard for me to understand why people want to feel like that. Then again, I can’t stand pot so....Maybe I am lucky!

You must be pro abortion as well. At least for those in poverty who’s children are more likely to grow into a life of crime.
Don’t do anything about it and the problem will solve itself sooner rather than later as the junkies remove themselves from the gene pool.
My life long childhood friend killed himself with fentanyl at the end of January. He was 64.
He’d last told me he was worried that he wouldn’t have enough to retire on.

Yes, I think every person with a drug problem is a bad person. They are selfish to the max, and they ruin the lives of everyone around them. They give revenue to the drug industry. I also think every person who buys kiddie porn is a bad person .
Lumping menstrual cramps with undisciplined and hyperactive kids is crazy. I guess you’ve never passed out, or puked your guts out, with cramps. Taking something to alleviate that does not make someone an addict.
