A new study found that Google’s Gmail favors liberal candidates, allowing the vast majority of emails from left-wing politicians to land in the user’s inbox while more than two-thirds of messages from conservative candidates are marked as spam.
North Carolina State University’s Department of Computer Science published, "A Peek into the Political Biases in Email Spam Filtering Algorithms During US Election 2020," last week in order to determine if spam filtering algorithms (SFAs) are biased toward a particular political party or ideology. The extensive study took place over a course of five months, from July 1, 2020 to November 30, 2020 on Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo. They created 102 email accounts and subscribed to two Presidential, 78 Senate, and 156 House candidates.
Gmail, however, retained the majority of left-wing candidate emails in inbox (< 10.12% marked as spam) while sent the majority of right-wing candidate emails to the spam folder (up to 77.2% marked as spam).

I am shocked, how could this be?
Most emails from my GOP congressperson go to spam. I mostly delete the few that don’t without reading. I already know what he’ll say.
I’ve noticed this as well. Senders I never mark as spam end up there anyway, usually conservative candidates or news source sites.
1. Create a Gmail account
2. Use it to sign up for every imaginable left wing cause
3. Report them all as spam
Yahoo has been doing this for 15 years at least.
No reason to post this article as very few conservatives use G-Mail, or send their kids to public school, for that matter.

Interesting. I just notice this in the last few weeks. I would even mark some emails from local candidates as “not spam” and they would still end up in the spam folder the next time. Perhaps the leftists are gaming the system (outside of Google) by setting up large numbers of email accounts and hitting the spam indicator. But really, I think Google is just outright lying and their people are doing it.
Google, which changes search results, also looks at emails and treats them differently according to their political leanings.
I checked my yahoo spam folder and, sure enough, many emails in there that I didn’t mark as spam and don’t want as spam.
Also, my cousin’s emails have been going to spam. I’m guessing because he’s a Vietnam veteran and is active in veteran organizations. It said I marked his emails as spam but that’s complete bullshite.

This should be illegal.
The web host I had was sold to a Canadian company. I started getting all sorts of spam. They had me go into the cPanel to set the spam filter. I even added just the email accounts I wanted email from. It did not stop.
They also blocked my email they did not like by looking at key words such as: biden, pedophile
They even admitted they filter your mail!

Zero problems and I was setup with email within the hour of signing up with them. Great support.
Please tell us the offending email outfit. How will freepers be able to boycott and change the world if secrets are kept.
