No, Trump Didn’t Cost the GOP the Senate
American Thinker.com ^ | April 8, 2022 | J. Allen Cartwright

Last week, author and conservative pundit Andrew Klavan found a surprising culprit for the likely confirmation of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the US Supreme Court during his typically superb podcast: former President Donald Trump. “The reason [Ketanji Brown Jackson] is going to get confirmed is because we don’t have a majority in the Senate, and the reason we don’t have a majority in the Senate is because of Trump’s baby-ness about the election...he kept complaining about it...he lost us Georgia, and that’s why we’re going to have Ketanji Jackson on the Supreme Court,” he argued in his monologue about the Supreme Court.

Klavan is hardly alone in his assertion that Trump’s rhetoric cost the GOP both Senate seats in the 2021 runoff; the same opinion has been postulated by conservative political insiders, editorial boards, and even politicians from Trump’s own cabinet and party. Essentially, they argue that Trump’s accusations of election fraud in 2020 undermined confidence among conservative voters that their vote would actually count, leading many GOP voters to simply stay home during the Georgia runoff despite an election-eve Trump rally.

They point to polling data indicating a decrease in confidence among Republicans in the US democratic process along with low Election Day turnout in conservative areas as two key pieces of evidence that Trump’s rhetoric was damaging. While Trump himself has suggested that his actions had a negative influence in the Georgia runoffs, placing the sole blame on Trump is both intellectually lazy and a major oversimplification. Indeed, other factors played much larger roles:

1. Georgia is Becoming a Purple State

Go look at Mitch and Linda for the sources of the problem with the GOP.

The GOP results in 2020 were almost perfectly consistent across the board.

Republican Senate candidates lost in the states Trump lost … and they won in the states Trump won.

Susan Collins was the only exception to this trend, as the author pointed out.

Klavan has to blame Trump for the Georgia debacle because he can’t come out and admit that Romney-esque candidates like Loeffler and Perdue don’t generate any excitement for voters.

What lost the Senate ( besides the outright fraud ) was the Turtle announcing that he was only going to approve $600 in Covid relief, only to turn around after the election and approve $1400.

It’s easy to call the guy an idiot, but I don’t think he is. In my opinion this is a highly organized effort to cause as much damage to Trump as possible in order to wrench control of the GOP from him. Ergo, all the Trump is past his shelf life articles that have been floating around FR the past few weeks and the bots who are here that supposedly support the ideas in those articles.

Going deeper behind this effort, I believe you will find Romney, both niece and Mitt; McConnell, and Lindsey Graham in charge. Probably Mcarthy too for that matter. These corrupt politicians will do ANYTHING to hang onto their fiefdoms.

Trump did carry CD-2 in Maine. So not a 100 % exception.

Pig face Stacy Abraham’s corrupt machine stuffed the ballot box in the 2020 general election. The steal was repeated in the senate run offs. Zuckerberg’s millions hired ballot harvesters and bribed election counters. Dinesh D’Souza has a documentary coming shortly detailing how it was done.

I worked for the police department in my hometown back in the 90s. I was on a case where I was allowed to view pictures of child pornography. The victim was still in diapers.

Murkowski, Collins, and Romney voted to confirm Jackson to the highest court in the land in full knowledge of her stance on child porn and pedophilia.

They need to get right with God and pray he has mercy on their souls.

It is Trump’s fault, only not in the manner Mr Klaven is talking about. President Trump ran on exposing the corruption in the Democrat party and the Deep State. Which he did. However, he also exposed the fact that the corruption was also deeply ingrained in the Republican Party. He also showed us the deep fractures in the Republican Party. From the Go-along to Get-along Vichy Republicans to the deep resentment of the Neo-con Republicans.
There is no more Grand Old Party, it is simply the other power hungry Washington party.

RINOs Kemp, Duncan Block Key Election Integrity Bill to Unseal Ballots
Thursday April 7th 2022

Excerpt:

VoterGA co-founder Garland Favorito provided details indicating Duncan’s subversive actions were taken at the request of Gov. Brian Kemp: “Our volunteers were in touch with a variety of Brian Kemp’s policy people throughout the day on Sine Die. We emphasized how important SB89 is to the voters and the Governor’s re-election. We noted that it is a win-win situation for everyone. We explained he only needed to call his good friend Geoff Duncan to ensure that SB89 got a vote. It is now clear that Kemp asked Duncan to block this key election integrity bill that would have been passed unanimously by Georgia’s Republican Senators.”
