Even a truncated Russian Federation has four times the pre-war population of Ukraine. It enjoys well over 10 times the Ukrainian gross domestic product. Russia covers almost 30 times Ukraine's area.
And how does Ukraine expel Russian troops from its borders when its Western allies must put particular restrictions on their life-giving military and financial aid?
The interests of Europe and the United States are not quite the same as those of a beleaguered Ukraine. NATO also wants Russian President Vladimir Putin humiliated, but only if the war can be confined within the borders of Ukraine.

The longer the war goes on, the more sanctions will hurt the Russian economy and insidiously undermine Russian public support for the war.
On the other hand, the longer the war continues, the greater the Russian losses, and the fewer acceptable off-ramps for Putin, all the more likely he will grow desperate and escalate to Gott daemmerung levels.

Yeah they can win a totally destroyed country while the world watches in awe...
Rockets and missiles are the game changers. They are easily transported and concealed. As long as there are people to fire them, the Ukes can win a war of attrition.
IMHO....IMHO....
Hansen said something I believe to be true. Russia will take the two areas they want..and let the rest of Ukraine form deals with the West and Russia..
I wish that Ukraine was not invaded.....but these Sh**t* land disputes all over the world just keep breaking out..see Azerbaijan and Armenia....which has a peace truce enforced by Russia...
Can Ukraine win—Yes—in the short run, but doomed to fail in the long run. The victories came as the west and the USA support them—but if the west becomes distracted by something else—and the money and weapons stop—it becomes a war of attrition and Russia wins. It would take years. If China moves on Taiwan or Vietnam, If North Korea attacks south? or a natural disaster hits the USA—Or even massive depression or social revolution or Civil War—Once the money train stops—Ukraine will be in a hard place. What if China sent troops to fight in Ukraine? What could we do then? Or if Iran sent troops? This whole thing defies a simple solution.
