Why Sarah Palin isn't the clear favorite to win the Alaska special election
CNN ^ | April 6, 2022 | Harry Enten

Former GOP Gov. Sarah Palin is running for the state's at-large seat left vacant by the death of longtime Republican Rep. Don Young, and I have no idea whether she is going to win or not.

To be clear, Palin starts out in an enviable position. The primary and general election are in two months (June) and four months (August) respectively. This leaves little time for most candidates to build name recognition and gives a well-known former governor a leg up on the competition.

....

A new election system

Alaska, though, isn't conducting its elections like other states, and Palin isn't like most former governors. Normally, voters cast ballots in partisan primaries, the top vote-getters advance to the general election under their party's banner, and the candidate with the most votes wins the general election.

This year, Alaska is debuting a type of jungle primary (known as a top-four primary) to select candidates who advance to the general election. In layman's terms, all the candidates, regardless of party affiliation, will run in the same primary with the top four vote-getters advancing to the general election, which will then be decided by ranked-choice voting.

Moreover, voters in the special election will also have to contend with more than 50 candidates -- conservatives, moderates, liberals -- appearing on the primary ballot.

it seems they have a new system that allows RINOs to split the vote and succeed...

The fact that there are 40 candidates running may be one explanation. That and she’s late out of the gate.

Don’t underestimate Sarah Barracuda. This opinion piece is propaganda from Palin-hating CNN which is hardly objective.

But she’s also very well known.

Everyone else, not so much.

That…and a lot of people are tired of her.

Politics seems to be a lot like Hollywood. There are no new ideas or themes. They just dig up something who was popular 15 years ago and they remake it.

Time for her to go back to reality TV.

It is more likely than not that a Republican will take the seat...But Dems can vote Republican and really rig this to make sure she loses.

Leave it to CNN to write a negative story about Palin.

That almost represent every known gender in this galaxy.

We can never know all the genders, as new genders are being created exponentially.

Leave it to CNN to write a negative story about Palin.

Remember when they hired an "author" to rent the house next to hers, harass her family, and take photos of her 24/7 for 6 months in the name of writing about the 2008 election?

Nobody knows her, so, out of 40 candidates, she’ll be lucky to get more than 10 votes in the jungle-primary.

All of the other candidates are better known than Palin, and unknown quantity, so, she’s got her work cut out for her.

Being a dark-horse, with no political history whatsoever and no history of running anything, will do her in.

;)

CNN has always hated her guts. They love the Biden gang and Hillary. Nuff said.

Just for kicks I looked it up. There are evidently 78 gender pronouns (not kidding). So we need at least 28 more people to enter the race. I hope there’s still time for them to file!

Jungle primary? Isn’t this what California has? Look at the condition of that state. Why did the residents of Alaska vote for this?

Why in God’s name did Alaska jump on the California election scheme? I can understand why California does it, because you wind up with two Democrats in November and one of them can take a dive thus saving the party a lot of campaign money.

Is Alaska “red” enough to wind up with two Republicans in the November election?

Anytime a leftist references a man or a women..they should have to rattle off all 78 supposed genders.

We didn’t vote for this in CA. it was hoisted upon us, probably the same in Alaska, the legislator in Alaska CAN change this BEFORE they too are under one party rule!!!
