rainian forces putting up a courageous fight against a much-stronger Russian troop is now a tale of inspiration, and Taiwan is wasting no time imbibing valuable lessons from it. The island nation is now speeding up the development of UAVs, seeing how efficient drones were against the invading forces in Ukraine.
Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has announced that it was "highly necessary" for the island to develop drones, regardless of whether it is for military or civilian use, reported South China Morning Post.
Tsai made the statement Sunday during a visit to the southwestern city of Chiayi where the local government is planning an aerospace park to research and develop artificial intelligence and drone technology. Here, Taiwan's top weapon developer, the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, will work with local developers to build state-of-the-art drones.
Taiwan has already taken baby steps in this regard. So far, Chung-Shan institute has developed four models of military drones. Two models – the Albatross 2 and Cardinal 2 - are used for surveillance and reconnaissance, especially to track the People’s Liberation Army’s movements. However, both models have suffered many crashes.
The next two models are primarily for attack purposes. While the Chien Hsiang (Rising Sword) is designed to destroy ground facilities in high-speed kamikaze attacks, Teng Yun 2 (Cloudrider) with two Hellfire missiles is a great attack weapon. However, both are yet to be mass-produced.

Taiwan has the technology.
Building a platform can be based off US intel and plans themselves from US weapons contractors.
Might have to launch from the mountains. I assume some of these need little room to launch.
Nuke Xi from Space, it’s the only way to be sure.
Ask for an EMP missile that can flash the channel between China and Taiwan.
Imagine all those ships just standing there being fired on.
As per a close friend who is Taiwanese, Taiwan does not allow private ownership of guns. This might make a spirited defense of the island difficult.
The Chicoms have them too.
I would like to see them go Swiss, but I doubt they will.
Each Tawain citizen with a T91 rifle, and a drone!
“Taiwan has the technology.”
the russkie-uke war has clearly demonstrated that the era of industrial-based warfare is dead as the dodo bird ...
future wars will depend upon very large numbers of small and very intelligent machines ... this new type of warfare no longer requires a huge industrial base that consumes massive amounts of raw materials necessary to build and transport large and heavy war machines, but instead, requires small amounts of materials designed and constructed with large amounts of human ingenuity and knowledge ... software engineers, material scientists, radio engineers, physicists and engineers from a plethora of other disciplines are far more critical than industrial steel-making ...
wars of the future are rapidly approaching the point where legions of small, intelligent machines fight other legions of small intelligent machines, and the winner will be whomever produces the smartest machines ...

And live long enough to find the off switch before the machines take over.
They won’t go Swiss, Taiwan has raised a generation of passive soyboys.
Their billionaire class will cut a deal with the CCP with guarantees to protect their personal wealth, private jets, mansions, etc.
But if they had the fighting spirit (the lacking ingredient) they could inflict Okinawa-level casualties or worse on the Chinese invaders (land area and population scaled up as shown by the map above.)
They have the terrain and the technology for a strong defense, I think the fighting spirit is not there.
They will cut a deal with Beijing, IMHO.
The question is, does China have the 'fighting spirit', either? China is about like the US. It's about the same size, has similar technology, and about the same size middle class. EXCEPT, China has an extra billion, or so, peasants. These make up the bulk of their military grunts. The question is, will they have the training and discipline to be successful, or are they another Russian mirage?
They do not need the training or discipline, if Taiwan can be purchased to give up without fighting.
“Imagine all those ships just standing there being fired on.”
Imagine all those ships that are hardened against EMP just sailing right on. :)

You actually think the Chinese would pay extra for that?
"Taylor Swift to learn from Ukraine; developing military drones to fight China" ...
Which brought to mind several interesting thoughts ...
“You actually think the Chinese would pay extra for that?”
LOL!
