NATO's Poland 'Open' to Hosting U.S. Nuclear Weapons
https://www.newsweek.com ^ | 4/3/22 | BY SHANE CROUCHER

Poland's deputy prime minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski said he is "open" to the idea of the U.S deploying tactical nuclear weapons in his country, and called for Washington to send tens of thousands more American troops to Europe to check the Russian threat.

Kaczynski, who leads the ruling national-conservative Law and Justice Party, also urged NATO to "do more" in Ukraine—in particular, a peacekeeping mission and delivering President Volodymyr Zelensky the weapons he asks for—and said he is "very dissatisfied" with Germany.

"The eastern flank must be much better protected in the future than before," Kaczynski told Germany's Welt Am Sonntag newspaper, asking America to station 50,000 more troops—a 50 percent increase—with most of the total in the Baltics and Poland, which are NATO allies.

Wait till Finland and Norway declare their intention to join NATO.

Um, I think you mean Sweden and Finland. Norway is a NATO member.

Let me know when NATO has a 300 year history of attacking, looting and annexing its neighbors like Russia.

I'll wait. I'm patient.

Ask yourself what’s more important. This sort of thing or
Donald Trump’s collusion with Putin?

That 9,000 MPH may have been pure propaganda also. We don’t
know for sure.

Our military probably does.

Back in the 90s I tried to remind folks that if we allowed
China to have our tech, they would at some point have the
funding to run research and develop certain weapons before
we did.

At that point we would no longer be the cutting edge
military power we have been for decades. The response was
that I was acting like a child, and had no clue what I was
talking about.

Here we are. Russia isn’t alone developing these. China
is also. I think both have working products now.

Naturally those with the big mouths back then, aren’t
around any longer.

They could have been the CCP for all we know.

There is now talk of the proliferation of these hypersonic
missiles. They are very dangerous, and if Iran, Kim, or
other problematic nations get them, it’s not going to be
good for anyone.

Russia and China just opened up a whole new can of worms.

We’ll be having to deal with them just like we did nukes.
And when combined, they’ll be a very big problem.

It’s not just the idea of a new way to deliver nukes. It’s
that it reduced the fail safe time to nearly nothing.

They can’t be defended against either. And that means it
will be much more likely that nations will openly consider
being a first strike nation.

They might not be able to respond, so they may simply
decide to shoot first.

I think that’s debatable in part, but it’s certainly a new
very unthinkable debate, we’re having to contemplate.

NATO doesn't have 3 million men lined up for Barbarossa II, and the chances of getting all 30 members to agree on an attack on Russia is about the same a meteorite striking you dead as you type.

The only thing possibly causing an attack by NATO are Putin's own actions. What Putin most dislikes about NATO is its rejection of the notion that he is supposed to be allowed to have a "sphere of influence" in eastern Europe and his actions illustrate precisely why every Eastern European nation has clamored to get into NATO.

They can’t be defended against either.

That remains to be seen. They must emit a heat signature like a searchlight, and their maneuverability is severely limited by their speed simply as a function of momentum.

Why would Russia be provoked by Polish nukes when Russis already has nukes on Poland’s border in Kaliningrad, which they placed there over the objections of Poland after literally replying they can put nukes where ever they want?

Only Russia is allowed to behave like a belligerent bully?

If you don't know the answer to that, I recommend you read a little history. Or are you just retarded, or something?

True, but if something is traveling at X, you have to be able
to shoot off something from behind at X+ (whatever) to catch
it, and X+ (plenty) to do so in time. As for if it is headed
in, you’d have to have some sort of pretty amazing tracking
to fire off effectively. If it’s at low level, good luck
with that.

It would be a challenge.

I agree with your thoughts on it as per heat signature, quick
evasive moves, and momentum.

(I read one report that thing was going 9,000 MPH)

The U.S. had that capability 10 years ago. The ARRW is said to have a maximum speed of better than Mach 20 and a range of approximately 575 miles, ~15,000 mph.

Good, well-reasoned position, much like my own thoughts. With hypersonics, AI and bio-warfare, the world is entering a new dimension of unknowns. I hope we can survive ourselves.

I wasn’t aware of that.

Did we develop it, but drop it, or did we field it?

Yes the short flight time is a definitely a “challenge.” One upside is that given its speed, if you could throw a sack of ball bearings in front of it, just the collisions would be enough to break it apart. Even a small deformation would cause the heat shield to burn through or enough aerodynamic instability to crash it. The missiles seem to be Iskanders turned sideways but I’m not sure.
