The Last of the Establishment Republicans (the Atlantic drools over Mike DeWine)
theatlantic.com ^ | 4/3/22 | Russell Berman

In a bygone era of American history—perhaps, say, 10 years ago—a big-state governor who earned bipartisan accolades for steering his state through a historic crisis would be cruising to reelection. DeWine has a sterling résumé: After winning his first House race in 1982, he has served as lieutenant governor, senator, attorney general, and now governor. He has been the ultimate Republican pragmatist, going as far right as necessary—but no further—to win and stay in office. Betty Montgomery, a Republican friend of DeWine’s who also served as Ohio’s attorney general, calls him “a governing Republican,” which reads as a compliment only in the context of the past several years of partisan warfare.

As governor, DeWine has notched conservative policy wins and handled Donald Trump deftly, managing to succeed in a state the former president won easily twice without either fully embracing or repudiating him. “He’s got to be one of the top five most successful politicians in the history of Ohio,” says the state’s current Republican Party chair, Bob Paduchik, a former DeWine aide who ran Trump’s 2020 campaign in the state. That is not idle praise in a state that produced eight presidents.

Yet it’s unclear whether Ohio Republicans will nominate him for another term this spring, or punish DeWine for the sin of believing in science and taking COVID-19 seriously.

I wrote this earlier today...RINOs et al present an interesting statist dog whistle.

No normal human sees these Lincoln Project tools as anything except frauds. Even centrists who have a pulse reject this bait. We all see them as they are: authority-bias infatuated snobs, and general "peaked in high school" losers with whom nobody would want to be friends or acquaintances.

But SOMEONE thinks that if enough spotlight is thrown their way, enough people will be blue pilled into jogging for the master race.

Maybe the statists think these milquetoast Pubbies will entice leftists to stay left, but the left is already in the abyss.

He bought the China Flu bullsh!t hook line and sinker even when there was overwhelming evidence that the only folks that were really at risk were those over 70 and had underlying conditions. Despite that went all in on the lockdowns and destroyed untold number of small businesses. Required stupid masks and “vaccinations”. In my world he’d be lucky just to not get elected again. In my world he’d be given the Benito Treatment.

A weasel of the Boehner class.

Not even the last Establishment RINO in Ohio, sad to say. (Think Timken, for example). He did sign Constitutional Carry, (after working against in for his entire term).

But it was an act of desperation on his part, because he's not in good odor with most of Ohio, mostly over the dictatorial CCCPVirus mandates. Good chance he'll lose in May, and good riddance.

“I don’t what it is but he strikes me as a weasely kind of guy.”

Very much so. He’s your John Kasich, Mitch McConnell kind of republican. Which is why last weekend, the Cuyahoga County GOP, (Liberal Cleveland), just stripped DeWine of our endorsement and instead endorsed the more conservative Jim Renacci.

He could hardly believe standing there, all 4’9” of his Hobbit self.

Lockdowns
Masking our kids
Dr. Amy Acton (See Atlas Shrugged)
He had to be led by the nose by our conservative House and Senate to do the right thing EVERY time.

Good riddance DeWine.

Any republican being praised by a liberal rag like the Atlantic is a fraud. Dewine needs to go. This article proves it.

Deweasel shutdown his phone lines after the constitutional carry bill sat on his desk unsigned . Ohio Gun Owners then lit up every line the state had , no matter what office , until they were smoking . That is “The Rest of the Story” as Paul Harvey would have said .

The believing in science bs is coming unraveled. All their science was severely politicized. They became little despots in going beyond the social agreement of a few weeks lockdown. The became anti-citizen when they forbade citizens from pursuing any treatment option a patient might desire.

Dewine was more concerned with his ratings than anything else. Still is.

DeWine is an oddball R Guy like punk Kasick before him. Both enjoy/ed bicameral Republican support but they play games and govern in the middle or left of center so as to curry favor with Media and Dems. He was supposed to serve only one term and hand it over to much smarter and more competent John Husted as part of a power sharing deal. Husted had been a popular Speaker of House and, as stated, much smarter and younger, not to mention over 5 feet tall. But DeWine is not ready to avoid the glamour of high office (sounds like Biden?) and is going for it again. He plays games with his R dominated legislature, Loved lock-downs, masks and Fauci. Totally sickening person. But we’d like to “hold” the Governorship.

DuhWhine gave RETROACTIVE PAROLE to my grandmother’s murderer and hundreds like him, including COP-KILLERS. It was called SB256 and it forces my family to defend our safety at parole hearings every 5 years. This is pro-family? This is “tough on crime?”

Far from the last Bush League Republican.

The Senate and House GOP are still dominated by them.

DeWine is a weaselly kind of guy. He turned his covid response over to a democrat abortionist control Freak woman who turned out to be mentally delicate, shall we say, and who resigned under a cloud of criticism and revelations about her past. He acted like she was some kind of sacred martyr.
