The Church, along with the French government encouraged the St. Francis tribe to capture a bunch of New Englanders and march the survivors to Quebec to be sold as slaves, whom they hoped to convert in the process.
To a degree, they were successful.

Several of the captives were closely related to me.
The Quebec government, France and the Catholic Church thereby owe ME reparations!$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!

There are few 100% pure bred folks who have ancestry going back to the days of slavery.
A LOT of those who think they are owed reparations, if a proper genealogy and DNA investigation was done, would find they need to pay themselves.

You would be hard pressed to find any Amish, Mennonite or Quaker churches who supported slavery! If you go way back, it appears that St. Paul moved and operated among a culture where slavery was condoned. Someday, hopefully a generation will arise can look without emotion, the entire concept of the growth and developement of civilization, and see that MANY groups of people have been in chains. Jews were the slaves of the Persians. Ignorance, debt and weakness and corrupted morales, will eventually lead to some sort of bondage.
Jesus Himself wasn’t an abolitionist; He seemed to regard it as a natural state of affairs.
What is the basis for such a ridiculous claim?
This has nothing to do with “misdeeds” (all of the perps and victims are long dead); this is about wealth redistribution while attempting to remain relevant. My town has many large beautiful churches of various denominations, and they are generally empty.
This pandering while giving away other peoples’ money shows their irrelevance, just trying to stay in the news so people know they’re still open for business.
Do you have any quotes from the Bible where Jesus spoke against slavery?

No mention of the baptists who used to preach from the pulpit that negroes carried the mark of sun and deserved what they got
They also played an active role in anti slavery, desegregation, and the Underground Railroad.
