The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the world’s largest organization of law enforcement officers, has counted 101 officers shot in the line of duty as of April 1, including 17 fatally, so far in 2022.
The latest figure marks a 43% increase compared to the number of officers shot at the same time period in 2021 and a 63% increase compared to 2020, FOP reports.
“We are in the midst of a real crisis. The violence directed at law enforcement officers is unlike anything I’ve seen in my 36 years of law enforcement,” National FOP President Patrick Yoes said in a Friday statement. “Last year was one of the most dangerous years for law enforcement, with more officers shot in the line of duty since the National Fraternal Order of Police began recording this data.
He added that FOP’s data so far in 2022 indicates that “we are outpacing last year’s numbers of officers shot and killed in the line of duty.”
“It is important to remember that when we look at these numbers, they represent people who are fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters,” he said. “We must also be aware that the lethality of these attacks would be much greater but for dramatic improvements in medical trauma science and anti-ballistic technology.”

I read something similar not too long ago.
As much as we need the police, they have brought a lot of this down upon themselves. Treating the public like everyone is a criminal, bullying at traffic stops, and their contempt for “civilians” all have driven a wedge between them and the public they supposedly serve.
I don’t know how to fix this, but there are going to be horrific consequences if we can’t.
Some examples of that contempt: cops joking about trampling that elderly woman in a walker in Ottawa. Other female cops laughing about how “This is going to be fun” when tazing a woman. A sergeant opening a car door to taze a suspect that is CUFFED and in custody.
This is NOT helping.
I don’t like cops, especially ones not directly elected.
However police are a necessary evil.
Assassination, assaulting, and denigrating them is not the way to get professionals trained to deal with the problems
that society has to deal with to help you.
Quite a few blacks on FB were equivocating about the drunk driver that killed two State troopers in PA. “Yeah, she shouldn’t have been driving drunk, but...“
You could become a cop, since you appear to know how bad the existing cops are.
You could show them how it’s done.

Cops are under orders to avoid triggering a riot, even if it results in their putting themselves at risk.
Yeah. As it happens, my two word response was met as you’d expect it would be met. 🤣 Don’t know if it was the individual that I addressed, or some random Karen that reported it, and I haven’t responded to it, yet. I just use Messenger for the time being.
THAT is the whole problem. I was lamenting the fact that the police seen to be alienating themselves from the public. That is the root cause of this whole "cops versus the people" garbage that is going on.
If you actually understood what I wrote, you certainly would not have tried to goad me into some kind of willy-wagging but here we are.

Really, what is hurting police is people too simple to actually think critically. Per FBI statistics, there are around 75,000 police initiated contacts every single day of people over the age of 16. That doesn’t include the times that they are called, or the people who happen to be younger than 16. And yet people read about a couple situations that construed by our America loving media to have not been conducted properly, and conclude all cops are all bad.
You've got to be kidding me. You cannot be serious.
The only people who think all cops are bad are criminals.
So the police need to be murdered because you are paranoid and a scaredy cat?
Just how do you expect the police to enforce traffic laws if they don't stop offending vehicles?

About the same ratio for a white person being killed by a black person vs black person being killed by a white person.
Maybe the police should stop blindly following the orders of their democrat party overloads.
