Survey: One-Third of Americans Say They Have Had to Cut Groceries to Afford Gas (And Grocery prices soon to skyrocket further)

Over one-third of Americans say they have had to cut groceries in order to afford gas as prices skyrocket in the second year of Biden’s presidency, a Quinnipiac University survey released this week found.

Gas prices have skyrocketed throughout President Biden’s time in office. As of Thursday, the national gas price average stood at $4.225 per gallon, although some parts of the country are seeing prices well over $6.00 per gallon.

While Biden has deflected, continuing to blame Russia for rising prices and inflation rather than his own bad economic policies and determination to quash American energy independence, not all Americans are buying it. A plurality, 41 percent, directly blame high gas prices on Biden’s economic policies, per the survey.

It also asked respondents, “As a result of the rise in gas prices, have you cut back your spending on groceries so that you can pay for gas, or not?”

Over one-third of Americans, 35 percent, said “yes,” they have had to cut back on groceries. Party by party, 46 percent of Republicans said they have had to cut back on groceries, and 22 percent of Democrats and 36 percent of independent voters say the same.

The survey, taken March 24-28, 2022, among 1,462 U.S. adults, has a +/- 2.6 percentage margin of error.

Weeks ago, Biden dismissed worries over high gas prices, callously telling reporters, “Can’t do much right now.”

“Russia is responsible,” he claimed, failing to acknowledge that gas prices were on the rise long before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Biden has also failed to connect the rise in gas prices to his efforts to quash American energy independence, which he began on day one.

Meanwhile Biden has done his absolute best to destroy domestic energy production.

All the Biden Administration cares about is blaming others for their many self inflicted crisis. They are taking no active efforts to actually solve their manufactured problems because they are the ones who intentionally created problems in the first place. The damage they are inflicting upon the world will not be undone for many, many years.

I’m already dropping the more expensive items, and I don’t even drive that much. I’m increasing my bulk purchases of classics like rice and beans, before prices go out of control. I’m the classic retiree on fixed income, so I’m anticipating the Bidenocalypse.

I haven’t had King Crab Legs in a long time! (Even before the invasion!)

I have started ordering from the LDS Online Food Store.

Case of black beans arrived yesterday, expecting oats, rice, macaroni this afternoon. All shelf stable for around 30 years. This order was just a start. Added in some mylar bags and oxygen absorbers too. I had a gift card from a client to Amazon, so I used it to stock up on flour.

Anyone can order from them or utilize their warehouse locations, you do not need to be a member of their religious order.

I plan to budget to buy at least one case a month for now that I have a start. I am a good cook, have my garden started, and live on the edge of the wood so can quietly forage over the summer.

We ate the last Lays Potato chip last night. When I saw a bag of Lays Party Size Chips are now $4.25 per bag at our Walmart that was it for us.

In May, 2020, gasoline was $1.69/gal, here in southwest PA.

Feb 1, 2022, before the invasion of Ukraine, it was $3.69.

An increase of, almost, 120%.

Since the invasion it has increased to $4.27, up $0.58.

An inrease of 15%.

Xiden is a corrupt, senile traitor.

A puppet.

Every action taken by this regime has damaged the Republic and harmed it's citizens.

Meanwhile, the GOPe allows the massive invasion, by millions of unskilled, uneducated, diseased parasites to continue.

Xiden was installed to destroy the US.

We will not survive this.

The only logical explanation is that we have domestic enemies in positions of power.

Higher gas prices, higher food prices and war.

Good thing President Trump is no longer in office.

Things have improved!

If that one third voted for Biden, they have no sympathy from me.
Absolutely none.

Today it cost me $70 to fill up and I was just under a half tank of gas.

That's effin' outrageous.

Then I went to the grocery store. I thought getting gas set me off on a rant, nope. The prices in the grocery store did.

I haven't even mentioned that it cost me almost 50% more to heat my home this winter just in natural gas prices.

Electric bills were up just over 40% themselves because as we here in the midwest know, you need a furnace to burn the natural gas and a fan motor to push the hot air through your house!

I'm glad I downsized four years ago because if I was still in my 3100SF house I'd have probably frozen to death trying to afford to heat it.

Watching everything go up like this just stresses me out.

BIDENZUELA!!

Thank goodness we have all that stored crude for just such instances. Fuel will probably drop back to $2.49/gal real soon. 🙅🐂💨💩

"...dropping the more expensive items..."

I changed last Saturday's dinner menu from Black Tiger Shrimp
$39.98 for a 2 pound bag - for Large Cooked Shrimp Cleaned & Tail-On
$21.98 also for a 2 pound bag.

A horrendous sacrifice I tell ya.

I guess “the People” (Even with fraud, enough people actually voted for Biden to pretend he won) traded “mean” Tweets for being economically raped.

Good job, “the People”/democracy

Now it’s the same out-of-pocket-cost for me to buy some items at jacked-up grocery store prices than to drive an extra 5 miles to the walmart to save a couple of dollars.
