Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday he trusts that President Joe Biden wants to help repel the Russian invasion — but warned that the leader of the free world can’t prove it without delivering desperately needed fighter jets and missiles.

[cut]

“Just give us missiles. Give us airplanes. You cannot give us F-18 or F-19 or whatever you have — give us the old Soviet planes. That’s all. Give them into my hands. Give me something to defend my country with.”

Another Gimme-dat. The billion dollars weren’t enough.

"Zelensky says Biden needs to deliver jets and missiles to prove commitment to Ukraine"

Zelensky is sounding more like Iran every day:

"Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh has called on U.S. President Joe Biden to provide concrete guarantees that Washington won’t renege on its commitments under a revived nuclear deal with Iran again."

What does Ukraine have to do to prove to the USA that THEY are committed to America? THEY bribed half of DC. THEY pushed the Trump as a Russian asset story. THEY pushed the impeachments. THEY put a spy in the White House.

Eff that corrupt country demanding we prove we are committed to them.

Hey, I have a crazy idea. How about Zelinsky being worth 600 million dollars liquidate his account except for a million or so, and donate the rest of it to the effort?

Maybe that azzwipe could do that before he comes wagging his finger at America.

Wait a minute. I thought all the parts on the Russian tanks etc were breaking down and their armies are getting routed by the “brave Ukrainians”. Why all of a sudden does Zelensky need America to deliver jets to shoot down Russian planes and start World War 3?

Something doesn’t add up here.

Same reason the Russians needed US supplies to beat the Nazis. If those supplies had stopped, the Russians would have lost.

Perhaps he doesn’t want to be invaded again.

Zelensky comes across as a professional beggar outside a church.

“Give me money or God will smite you”.

That Russia hasn’t destroyed him yet is amazing.

Boasts of a phenomenal army.....but we have no weapons. Wonder where government money goes.

Footnote...Pensions are double in Russia compared to what Ukrainians get.

The US has Boeing EA-18G Growlers in the area. Their electronic chaos against Russian radars could allow a few old Soviet aircraft into Ukraine. (And nobody would know for sure).

Slava Ukraini!

I listened to a commentator regarding the equipment Germany said it would send to Ukraine. He was convinced the equipment would go directly to the black market and,in two or three years, come back and bite Europe big time.

Why is that a surprise? Ukraine’s economy ($150b) is 1/10 the size of Russia’s ($1.5t). Its population is 1/3.

Saudi Arabia produces the same amount of oil as Russia. Saudi Arabia’s economy ($750b) is 1/2 the size of Russia’s. Assuming that Saudi oil production accounts (with multiplier effects) for its entire economic output, Russia’s economy is 5x Ukraine’s just as a result of oil production. Then there’s natural gas, gold, nickel, platinum, palladium, diamonds, tungsten, titanium, et al. This mineral wealth is why Putin has a $200b personal fortune.

If you take out natural resource extraction, Russia’s economy is probably the same size as Ukraine’s. Basically, Russia is a Christian Saudi Arabia, except you can grow crops in Russia, whereas the Saudi desert is literally barren.

This stuff about fearing escalation in the event of more extensive supply efforts is BS. Russia supplied North Korea and North Vietnam with its best stuff - jet fighters and anti-aircraft hardware in a war against a nuclear power. Did the US nuke Moscow? That would be a no. Going slow on supplying Ukraine while bloviating about freedom is basically Moscow Joe’s way of paying Putin back for the bribes funneled through Burisma without risking impeachment, given the bipartisan consensus in favor of arming Ukraine.

That sounds like a reasonable assessment.
