WASHINGTON — A year after he entered the White House with a vow that fighting global warming would be a driving priority for his administration, President Biden’s climate agenda is mired in delay and facing legal, legislative and political headwinds that could diminish or dismantle it entirely.
His two main avenues for significant climate action are legislation and regulation. But even Mr. Biden’s top aides and closest allies now concede that the legislative centerpiece of his climate plan is unlikely to become law in the face of steadfast Republican opposition.And regulations that are now under development — strict limits on the pollution from cars and power plants that is dangerously heating the planet — could be curtailed or blocked by the conservative majority on the Supreme Court.
With gasoline prices surging after the Russian invasion of Ukraine and images receding of last summer’s climate disasters — wildfires that raged through seven states, heat waves and floods — Republicans and oil companies are newly emboldened in calling for more drilling and less emphasis on climate change.
“The U.S. oil companies are like a prisoner that was condemned to death, and suddenly the warden of the prison lets them out and wants them to produce as much oil as quickly as possible,” said Robert McNally, a consultant who was a senior energy and economic adviser to President George W. Bush. “Now, the president is saying to them, help me out of a jam. It’s a panicked response to high oil prices.”

Let them campaign on giving people $5/gallon gas, frigid homes this Fall, and a daily influx of deadly drugs and criminals streaming over our Southern border. Not to mention food shortages.

You miss the salient point. This is the New York Times admitting the reality that the Biden Administration and the whole democrat party is currently ineffective and unable to accomplish anything.
That is a very big deal.

Later, I passed my usual gas station - showing gas for $6.49/gallon.
Biden’s 2023 budget has all kinds of “carbon footprint” reporting requirements. They will say that it’s only for large corporations, but the requirements are for “suppliers too” so it really extends to the entire economy.
The amount of wasted time involved in reporting made-up numbers to some bureaucrat working in a make-work position with a Fortune 500 company is beyond imagination. And as we will not be compensated for the time expenditure for all this ‘reporting’ then all this amounts to an additional business tax.
The DimWITS won't be able to get a Democrat elected to dog catcher if gas stays this high for the midterms. The DimWITS have to cheat to win elections but they can only overcome so many Trump votes.
President Trump won in a landslide on Nov 3, 2020 but the midterms look like at least a 100 seat Republican margin in November, 2022. With that margin comes investigations into everything DimWIT:
-- The $$ pipeline called Ukraine. The SCAM: Give them US taxdollars, Ukraine gives Hillary $10 million to her charity BS, $$millions to Pelosi's kid, Kerry's Kid, Mitt Romney's kid.... Kids pay parents like Hunter's laptop showed.
--The DimWITS can only win an election w/ cheating. With Trump's landslide, the DimWITS had to pull out EVERYTHING to "win"
--The Climate Change scam will fall apart with real investigations into their "science"
--The origins of the China virus will be exposed
--DimWITS will be shown to have killed hundreds of thousands because they suppressed early treatments using HCQ and IVM (and not to mention DimWIT governors loading up nursing homes to increase the Death Numbers).
--Hussein's birth certificate will be shown to be fraudulent.
etc.
What gets me is that EVERYONE KNEW that gas prices would soar- that is their stated goal, to wean people off gas by making it too expensive, just like they did with tobacco. If the Brandon administration were just honest from the get go, they would get a lot of griping, but at least they would not look as incompetent as they do now.

All of this Biden Administration policies are creating problems. Energy, yep. Border -- just wait. A huge number are coming over the border. I am wondering if there are any people left in South and Central America.
Why didn’t they use a stronger bug on Thomas, so as to replace him with someone more in line with the Ukraine Supporters?
