It seems Italy and Germany didn't have a deal and were trying to "offer Russia a way out".

No deal.

Rubles only.

Or no gas.

File this under: “You should have listened to Trump when you had the chance.”

I wonder if the EU countries actually thought they could make financial war on Russia and not expect Russia to react.

The Euros asked for this by going “green.” And Trump warned them about it repeatedly.

Somebody should contact Europe’s energy expert, Greta Thunberg. She’ll know what to do.

And if Thunberg is not available, no worries. Just put up more windmills, stat.

Why should they have listened to Trump? Obviously there is nothing wrong with it, but Trump was just trying to drum up business for US gas companies.

At no point until now has Russia attempted to use gas as leverage. ONLY after this absurd and oppressive sanctions regime was been put into place did Russia decide to make a change. Even so, the gas will still flow at the agreed-upon prices. The EU countries simply must endure the humiliation of having to pay in Rubles. The lesson for the EU is: "you reap what you sow".

“I wonder if the EU countries actually thought they could make financial war on Russia and not expect Russia to react.”

I assure you they never gave it a thought.

It was an act of passion, not reason.

Pooty throwing a hissy fit must mean things are worse than is being reported. Probably none of his Yes men have yet told him how screwed up their finances are.

Trump warned them not to make this deal and be dependent on Russia for energy.

With our dollar becoming more worthless everyday, Biden will have to start paying the Ruskies with our gold.

EU sighs with relief as Biden readies to enter White House RUSSELS (AP) — The European Union’s top officials breathed a sigh of relief on Wednesday that Joe Biden will be taking over as president of the United States, but they warned that the world has changed after four years of Donald Trump and that trans-Atlantic ties will be different in the future.

“This new dawn in America is the moment we’ve been awaiting for so long,” European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said, hailing Biden’s arrival as “resounding proof that, once again after four long years, Europe has a friend in the White House.”

“The United States are back, and Europe stands ready to reconnect with an old and trusted partner to breathe new life into our cherished alliance,” she told EU lawmakers, hours before Biden was to be sworn in at his inauguration ceremony in Washington.

Ha! Ha!

Putin just tied the Rouble to gold. So paying in roubles is the same as paying in gold.

Sadly Russia is the only place on earth where there is natural gas. No other nation on earth has any... if Russia says no, the world must go without. Same with fertilizer. No other nation on earth has any, only Russia. Evidently. /s

Russia has the oil and gas.

Putin is playing chess while Western Europe is howling at the moon and throwing checkers around the room.
