An eighth Russian colonel has been killed in Ukraine in another devastating blow to Vladimir Putin's faltering invasion which has seen the loss of many high-ranking officers.
Kyiv said it had 'eliminated' Colonel Denis Kurilo, commander of the 200th separate motorised rifle brigade, who led Russia's bloody assault in Kharkiv where he was killed in battle.
The brigade had suffered massive losses in the fierce fighting, the Ukrainian army's press office said.
A picture of Kurilo was shared with a red X through it to announce his death.
Two battalion groups in the 200th brigade were destroyed, with a staggering loss of 1,500 servicemen, Ukraine has claimed.
The colonel is the latest in a long line of slain Russian military leaders, which experts say betray the Kremlin's blundering tactics in the brutal invasion.
It has also been revealed today that Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Dormidontov was killed last week as his funeral was held in Russia today.
A source in the Tatarstan region of Russia said: 'Commander of the rocket artillery division, Lt-Col Dmitry Pavlovich Dormidontov, died while on duty,' said an account.

Moms Demand Action should immediately head to the Ukraine to take dangerous assault weapons and sniper rifles from ordinary Ukrainian citizens, to stop this senseless slaughter of invading Russian troops and their commanding officers!

Russia doesn’t have a professional NCO corps, neither does China. And low officers are doing what Sargents would do in Western armies. Thus many officers are killed. But Russia also has a large officer corps. Too many Chiefs not enough Indians.
Making the case that 100,000 American troops stationed in Europe and billions for NATO could be better spent on our southern border.
If Ukraine can stop this joke of an army, the combined forces of Germany, France, UK, Italy, Poland, and others can’t? The idea of the invincible Russian army ready to overrun all of western Europe with its tanks is now as silly as worrying about Battleships attacking our coastline. Its time Europe paid the price. Sell them our weapons to keep Russia in check, and move our troops to the Mexican border.
