A Florida teacher told MSNBC he worries that he can’t discuss his love life with his kindergarten class after Governor DeSantis signed the parental rights education bill.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Monday signed into law HB 1557, a measure that forbids instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity to children in grades pre-K through grade 3.
The left is angry that DeSantis is protecting children from groomers.
There is no reason why any adult should be talking about gender identity or sexual orientation to 5 year olds.
One Florida teacher said he’s worried that he can’t talk about his partner and personal life to his kindergarten class.

In a sane world, this person would not be allowed to teach.

There is NO WAY IN HELL these are "his children." That usage implies he owns the kids and can do anything he wants with them. Even if he weren't a homo, that attitude should disqualify him from being anywhere near children.
I wouldn't be surprised one bit to learn that "paddle boarding" is a gay euphemism for some perversion.
Men should teach no younger than junior high.
As a heterosexual, my personal love life would be the farthest thing from what I would talk to kids that age about.
Ok, I’m old (jus turned 70) but I can’t remember ever hearing a teacher of mine discuss his or her personal life. I didn’t know if they were single or married, had children or grandchildren unless we belonged to the same church congregation. Education really went downhill when teachers decided to be friends rather than teachers at school. Now they encourage kids to confide in them, to accept their advice and lifestyle choices. All the while parents often know nothing about it. And think of the cognitive dissonance for a kid whose teacher preaches one thing while parents preach the opposite.
Incidentally somehow I managed to have a functional life that includes marriage now for 37 years and three successful kids without a shred of sex education.

Right? I don’t recall carrying much about my teachers personal lives. Nor do I think my kids cared too much about theirs either. They are there to learn math, science, history etc
I’m glad I went to school at a time when teachers didn’t worry about being able to discuss their sex life with me in the classroom.
You probably knew when you started this thread it would go nuclear. BTW folks, you really don’t want to look at the teacher’s picture.
I hope the Florida legislature extends this law next year from K-12.

No teacher should disclose his or her personal life.
When I taught a student claimed impropriety on my part and the ombudsman questioned my class. She said she was unable to determine anything about me, no political affiliation, no sexual orientation, no religious affiliation. She said when she questioned my students if I ever discussed sex in class, everyone said, “ Mr S? NO,!” And then they laughed. I don’t know if I feel good about that.
My point being, I only discussed things with regard to the class. I took no position other than one with regard to good writing. Though we discussed a wide range of topics, no one was able to determine my position on anything. I felt good about that.
