Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is plotting a counter to President Biden’s soaring gas prices before the midterm elections.
Monday night, Pelosi met with her Democrat leadership team to address the gas prices that are expected to cost the American driver an extra $2,000 per year in 2022, according to Punchbowl News. The meeting did not lead to a direct plan of action, though “some senior Democrats still hope the House can act next week before Easter recess but the path forward remains unclear.”

Why, free government money ALWAYS makes things more affordable. Just look at their stellar results in higher education and health care.
Sending out checks (probably on a means-tested basis), is not the long-term solution we need. Get back to allow drilling and development of US oil resources.

Like you, at first I interpreted the article to say they were proposing to give everybody $2,000. It actually says that people will pay $2,000 more in 2022 to buy gas.
But your point is still valid. And a $2,000 “free money” check would also cause another big uptick in inflation.
All they have to do is erase all the incredibly stupid anti-oil things Brandon did on Day One.
Prices will rise twice as much as the free money amount.
You will get closer to Dirt Poor.
Lower the cost of gasoline with massive subsidies. Massively raise the cost of something else to pay for them. Real estate, say.
