A 10 year old EV is likely to need $15,000 in replacement batteries soon.
Fortunately not even Dementia Joe can afford to give such subsidies by borrowing even more money from China or even worse, just printing even more Trillions of dollars of paper money.
Coal was a little under 25% of all US utility electrical generation in 2021.
Which means it is bigger than any other fuel source except natural gas by a large margin. Solar is a joke.
From who?
The golf cart makers or milk float makers?
You cant get a brand new electric car from Ford or GM (Dementia Joe's favorite company) for anywhere near the price you are mentioning.
“So where’s the other end of that ev charge cord connected to again?”
My friend has it attached to his solar panels. What I want to know is what is the plan for putting a charging station in very building across the United States without charging those who do not have an EV?
He is obviously talking about if them internal combustion engine cars were replaced by electric cars. We simply don't have anywhere close to enough electric power generated to power these cars.

In 1908 we didn’t have enough oil to power all the gas cars and not enough electricity to power all the homes!
The US government is now a gas Nazi. “No more gas for you”! Can’t afford an EV, then walk or stay home!
I sure with him but he needs to understand two things. They aren’t going to be 50k, in very short order they will be self driving and cost 150k. The second thing is to lose the idea that they intend to replace our gas cars one for one. They intend FAR fewer cars, none owned by us and we just call for Uber rides.
You’ll own nothing, you’ll travel less, and you’ll be happy.
WEF plans. I like desantis
True that. But at least with an EV I won't need solar every day. I'm not saying solar and EV's should be forced onto everyone like the Dims are doing. But if you live in the south (lots of sun) and want less gubment control over our energy, hear me out. Solar and EV might be good for a person's situation to take more control of your energy production and consumption so that the Dims have at least that much less control over you.
My solar system produced 55% of all the power I consumed since I installed it last May. On bright sunny days it produced all the power I needed. On other days, as you say, it did not. I bought the system knowing that ahead of time. It's meant to save me money in the long run as Dims keep jacking up our energy costs -- not meant to save the world from cow farts or anything like that.
Now think about an EV. If you get a 300-mile range EV, let's say you don't let it drain more than 200 miles before you absolutely recharge it, and drive 30 miles on average a day when not on trips (my usual driving habits), then you can go 6 or so days without charging if need to wait for sunny weather. It's not a 100% solar situation. But it moves the needle a lot so that the EV would be the best "appliance" my solar system powers as far as having the largest portion of power coming from solar before my inverters gives up and pulls the necessary power from the grid.
For those of you who are trying to point out that electric cars are not THAT expensive...
The point is not the comparative prices between ICE and EVs.
The point is the IDIOTS who think the solution to high gas prices is to spend $50K+ when you have a perfectly good car right now.
It would be like telling someone who is complaining about high food prices to go buy a farm.
They want to make the fleet go all electric. They never said everyone gets a car like today. It’s even worse than he said.
That would be the Nissan Leaf in base trim, with a range of 149 miles. The least expensive new ICE car would be the Chevy Spark at $15.6k. Based on a 9 gallon tank size and EPA combined mileage of 33 mpg, the range would be about 300 miles. Want more range in your Leaf (equivalent to the Spark)? The base price would be around 32k.
Disclaimer-in today's Bidenized environment, prices on all vehicles are likely to be considerably higher. And the EV prices don't include any incentives paid for by the ever generous American taxpayer.
If Trump don’t run in 2024 I would love to see him run. But living in FL. I hate to lose him.
I’d like to see a Trump/DeSantis ticket in 2024, and DeSantis running for president in 2028.
Shoot... 50K will almost buy you a new set of replacement windows, a front door, and a sliding glass door.
Would be the best. Possible great president for 12 years.
Forty percent of America would flunk a urine test.
Cheapest EVs I see are crappy little Chevy Bolts in the low 30k range but most are 40k plus, similar Nissan Leafs high 30k range. Commuter car.
A more useful Corolla Hybrid starts around $26k.
Anything EV general purpose is $50k or much more.
Less expensive Teslas are coming
