Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) blasted President Joe Biden for being out of touch on Sunday following reports of the president drafting an executive order to invoke the Defense Production Act to help produce material for electric car batteries.

“After begging for oil from dictators, Biden is now using emergency war powers to produce batteries for the 1% that drive electric cars. Most Americans suffering due to high gas prices don’t have the luxury of spending $50k+ on an electric car,” DeSantis said, making the demand to “unleash American energy today!”:

And these electric cars do nothing for the environment especially when they are not made to last.

Most Americans Don’t Have the ‘Luxury of Spending $50k+ on an Electric Car’

Wrong!!!

With a government subsidy of $48,000, I imagine most Americans can come up with the other $2,000.

The average transaction price on a new car in 2021 was over $47k.

Most Americans can’t afford a new internal combustion engine car.

The least expensive new electric car has an MSRP of $27.4k.

In my area a 2011 Nissan LEAF SL with 54k miles has an asking price of $6550 in the middle of crazy used car prices.

We drove through the Columbia River Gorge between Oregon and Washington on Friday morning. Ten thousand windmills were sitting there DOING NOTHING. Zero power generation that morning. Up the river is the old Boardman Generating Station which produced highly reliable power from coal from 1980 to October 15, 2020. That highly reliable coal plant was replaced by the ten thousand windmills that were producing nothing.

The “Capacity Factor” of an asset is how much it actually produces divided by what it could produce at full output. A well-run coal plant has a capacity factor of 70% to 80%. The average capacity factor of windmills is 28%. So you need to install THREE TIMES more capacity of windmills to get the same energy output. The ugly secret is there is no large-capacity energy storage system to store that windmill power for the days the wind doesn’t blow.

If you wanted to power all the internal combustion engines tomorrow, where do these idiots think that energy will come from? I know. From the outlet in the wall.

Electric cars are great. I have one. But the electricity still requires fossil fuels, nuclear power, coal as well as solar and wind. Drill baby drill!

...and just where do you think electricity comes from? Gas, oil, nuclear, coal-——Soon the cars themselves will be considered “toxic waste” and they’ll soon be banned and they’ll push us to bikes....then walking. This is the Marxists!! They eventually want you poor, powerless while they live in luxury. They hate us “serfs” drinking wine, traveling and owning property.

ICE cars are powered by gasoline, not electricity.

Add another $25k if you need a pickup truck. That's a basic XLT F-150 with extended battery and a tow package. No other options. A mid range work truck version. It would be close to $100k for a Platinum. Biden is a jacka$$.
