Russian missiles in Ukraine have failure rate of up to 60% - US officials
The Jerusalem Post ^ | MARCH 25, 2022 | Reuters

Russian precision-guided missiles are failing up to 60% of the time in Ukraine, three US officials with knowledge of intelligence on the issue told Reuters, a possible explanation for the poor progress of Russia's invasion.

Since President Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of Ukraine on Feb. 24, Russia has failed to achieve basic objectives such as neutralizing Ukraine's air force despite a vastly larger armed forces.

The US officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the information, did not provide evidence to support the assessment and did not disclose what precisely was driving high Russian missile failure rates.

Though Reuters could not determine what a standard failure rate would be for air-launched cruise missiles, two experts interviewed by Reuters said any failure rate of 20% and above would be considered high.

The Kremlin says that what it calls a "special military operation" is going to plan and that Russia will achieve all of its aims. It casts the United States as an "empire of lies" which has unleashed an information war on Russia...

In recent days, Russia's defense ministry has lauded the professionalism and missile technology of the armed forces. It says claims of failures are misleading propaganda distributed by Russia's enemies headed by the United States.

MISSILE FAILURES

US defense officials told reporters this week that the Pentagon assesses that Russia has launched more than 1,100 missiles of all kinds since the war began...

Citing US intelligence, three US officials said the United States estimated that Russia's failure rate varied day-to-day, depended on the type of missile being launched, and could sometimes exceed 50%. Two of them said it reached as high as 60%...

Honestly some of the stories I’ve read you would think Ukraine would have captured Moscow by now. That Truth is one of the first casualties of war is so true

No, what’s moronic is your inability to be against two corrupt people simultaneously. And you bring up China and Iran, also deplorable, while ignoring the bioweapons labs in Ukraine while Zelenskyy was in office that the Biden administration admitted to.

You aren’t giving a good argument as to why Europe can’t grow up, unify militarily, and deal with Russia as they are more than capable of it.

“Did I say he was?”

Then how is it relevant. He did play a reformer man of the people on TV, then was elected, and apparently the Trump admin was favorably impressed with him as a genuine reformer and anti-corruption guy. Then the Dems got scared and impeached Trump, lest he uncover the rat’s nest in which Hunter and the big guy were very much at home. Then VZ got corrupted and started arresting detractors. Whatever. That’s Eastern Europe and much of Latin America. For now, he’s their Churchill, and like Churchill, after the war is over, he can and maybe should be voted out. Not my call. I don’t care.

You remind me of those who hated Trump but voted against Trump rather than voting third party while trying to convince themselves that Biden would give them Medicare 4 All, would push for $15 an hour federal minimum wage, student loan forgiveness, etc.

I told them they could support neither Trump nor Biden and that Biden was lying to them but they wouldn’t believe me.

You're moronically stuck on corruption. Hint, one leader, Putin(self-declared enemy of the US) has invaded a neighboring sovereign country. You're response: they are both corrupt. Okay. As opposed to you, the whole world has condemned Putin's invasion with more than 20 countries supplying weapons.

It is relevant because although he may not be corrupt in all ways he is an autocrat who is very corrupt in that he shut down media unfavorable to him, painted them all with a broad brush, and yet supposed supporters of free speech blatantly ignore this and give him a pass over it.

Lol, sure devious Ukrainians are going around planting Russian unexploded missiles during the invasion.

An unexploded tail section of a 300mm missile which appear to contain cluster bombs is embedded in the ground after shelling on the northern outskirts of Kharkiv, on March 21, 2022.

Those are Grad rocket boosters. US MLRS rockets do the same thing. The booster separates after use to reduce drag and increase the range of the warhead.

Well, well....... here’s the Russian rocket reality. There is no quality control on aging rockets fired after the use by date.

The Russians need a few of Elon Musk’s brains to establish reliability and quality control

First, it is not “unexploded”, but a motor section of a Smerch cluster rocket. Second, it is too fragile to stay intact after hitting a building.

Your original photo is a never-fired Tochka-U.

It could have a failure rate of 1% but it will not exceed 60%.
