NYC Mayor Eric Adams turns to Chicago's Lori Lightfoot for ideas on how to tackle subway crime and gun violence

The mayors of New York City and Chicago met Friday to exchange ideas on tackling crime, which continues to skyrocket in both cities - a trend that began during the worst days of the COVID pandemic and continues to dog both cities.

New York's Eric Adams and Chicago's Lori Lightfoot, both Democrats, have in recent weeks sparred with their cities' top prosecutors and accused them of pushing for lenient policies that don't hold criminals accountable.

Crime in NYC is up by over 45 percent compared to this time last year as Adams battles a growing crisis at Rikers Island - the city's main jail - as well as a spike in hate crimes and an overburdened court system.

In Chicago, crime is up by 34 percent.

Violent incidents in public transit have left residents of both cities terrified for their safety. Transit crimes have shot up by 80 percent in NYC, according to the city's latest crime statistics. The Chicago Transit Authority, meanwhile, recorded a spike in crime of 56 percent in January and February, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Both mayors held a closed door meeting before a 'hastily scheduled' news conference, WTTW reports.

'We are gonna be great partners in the work that we're all doing,' Lightfoot told reporters.

And people thought De Blasio and Bloomberg were dumber than fence posts ... kind of hard to imagine someone dumber than a person dumber than a fence post. Well he has at least one socially redeeming value going for him in todays woke culture... he’s black.

Actually, that's a smart move on Mayor Adams' part.

I mean after all, Chicago has almost zero subway crime.

Bill DeBlasio used marijuana daily and it was apparent. Strongly suspect that this guy Adams who loves the night life drinks heavily.

#1. Put conductors back on the train. Having only one employee to drive the train, work the doors, and handle all the problems on an 8 car train is not enough, so they don’t bother to proactively enforce any rules anymore.
#2. Put police back on patrol on both the stations and trains.

Both of those solutions would of course require spending money which these cities do not have, so nothing will be done.

The crime problem has been tackled and solve in the very recent past. Odd that these two mayors don’t seem to know how it was done. Jimmy Carter taught me all I need to know about democrats: They talk a good game but can’t fix anything because of hey are bound by their diseased ideology.
