Blocked Zelenskyy drops demand for NATO no-fly zone over Ukraine
The Washington Times ^

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy‘s impassioned video plea to Thursday’s gathering of NATO leaders in Brussels for emergency military aid effectively dropped what had been Kyiv’s No. 1 ask in the unequal fight to hold off invading Russian forces — a no-fly zone to block Russian fighter jets from the skies over its smaller neighbor.

Mr. Zelenskyy appeared to be bowing to reality in an address to President Biden and other top officials while continuing to press Western powers for more planes, tanks and missiles “without restrictions.”

“The alliance can still prevent the deaths of Ukrainians from Russian strikes, from Russian occupation, by giving us all the weapons we need,” Mr. Zelenskyy said from Kyiv, which his government still controls a full month after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his troops across the border.

The Ukrainian leader expressed thanks for Western military aid supplied so far, but could not hide his frustration that more help was not forthcoming, noting he had asked for the no-fly zone on Feb. 24, the day Russia invaded, and that Kyiv has yet to get a definitive answer from the West on requests for tanks, fighter jets and other military assets.

“This is the worst thing about war. We’re not to have a clear answer from the West to requests for help,” he said.

But NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg insisted again Wednesday that NATO would not set up a no-fly zone mission in Ukraine, saying it would necessitate in time direct attacks on Russian assets if it was to be effective.

This was another one of those almost zero probability odds things. In for a dime, in for a dollar. Not possible for NATO to do this with out instantly being in head to head direct combat with Russia.

I heard Z’s has been bringing down the Russian aircraft simply by focusing his x-ray vision on them, causing them to burst into flames on the spot. Amazing man.

Why, he could just as well take them down with his amazing no-hands piano playing skills.

If you catch my drift.

The no fly zone has become much less of an issue with the number of Russian planes that the Ukrainians can shoot down. Russia has been sending very few flights over the country as they tend to end up hard parked in Ukrainian fields.

Many countries have been using this guy and Ukraine for years, further adding to its corrupt reputation. You can’t blame the guy for trying.

A No-Fly Zone was a pipe dream for Zelensky, anyway. There was no way NATO was going to go along with that request. I think he knew that early on in the game, and was just hoping to keep the request hanging out there to use as some kind of leverage.

This is perfect for us.

Little cost (mostly older weapon systems we’re giving away), little risk (not to our troops, political leaders, economy, etc), even if we lose.

High payoff if we win.

As a pure “Machiavellian” political move, this was excellent. Seems crazy to claim, but seriously, we are paying next to nothing, bleeding nothing, no political leader will look bad, even if we lose (there isn’t even a big political cost).

Was it moral? Well, we lied and broke numerous promises made to the Russians, basically pushed them into a corner and gave them no way out (accept it - or go to war).

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/ (We basically gave the Russians the middle finger)

Was it just? We’re doing this for economic reasons, there was zero national security for us or our NATO allies involved. Russia from day one was very clear in what this was about, Ukraine entering NATO. That was an issue as far back as 1994 where we promised that we wouldn’t do what we’re doing today. But times change, administrations change, and even the same people have “evolving ideas” in the West.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNgCwoaT9u4

Were we transparent? Not really, we’re lying about our motivation, allow for psyop campaigns to target the West but then put a media black out on the Russians...

But nonetheless, there will be a good payoff for us if we win.

I used to like Bolling on Fox, but dumped the Network over Brett Baier and others. Returned to Tucker only, a few months ago. As cold as it sounds, I could give a shit what happens in Ukraine. Best thing so far is seeing Trudeau getting his ass flamed be the EU. Zalenskyy is a punk..so is Putin…so is Biden..so is Trudeau…
The media keeps this going…they’re punks too.

Needs to save his a$$ and what’s left of his country by cutting a deal ASAP. Our MSM has not reported on the 15K+ killings committed by Ukrainian forces on Russians in Crimea and the eastern republics. Nor have we heard much about US funded bioweapon labs he has hosted. He’s lucky to still be alive.

why do the people of Ukraine follow the corrupt Zelensky into war??? He takes their money (taxes) for his corruption then he asks for their help to fight for his corruption.

Very interesting dynamics. However, Biden is corrupt and I would fight for my land. But I wonder how many Ukrainians really like or approve of their leader

Now, it’s time to surrender. The longer the war drags on, the civilians that will die and more Ukraine will shrink.
