Mayor Eric Adams will ease the city’s private-sector vaccination mandate so Nets star Kyrie Irving — and some possibly unvaccinated Mets and Yankees — can compete at home, a source familiar with the matter said Wednesday.
Adams is expected to announce the reversal of his earlier stance on Thursday, the source told The Post.
The move will cover Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, home to the Nets, as well as Yankee Stadium in The Bronx, the Mets’ Citi Field in Queens and Manhattan’s famed Madison Square Garden, home to both the Knicks and the Rangers, the source said. Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is widely suspected to be unvaccinated, and the Bombers are scheduled to face off against the rival Boston Red Sox at home on April 7, the opening day of Major League Baseball’s 2022 season.

Of course it was never about science.
And considering these exemptions were already in place, what the heck is Adams talking about?
NYC has been doing this for months.
Only when they came from out of town. Athletes on teams based in NYC were not allowed to compete at their home venues if they were not vaccinated.
Here’s the deal....

Out of state athletes were exempted.
Now Adams is exempting athletes who are NYC residents as well.
That’s so sciencey.
What a frigging cluster.
And continuing proof, as if it were needed, that CoupFlu has NEVER been about public health.
Thanks! Just figured that out. See my reply #23.
Though any athlete that actually domiciles in NYC/NYS needs his/her head examined.
And if you're drafted by an NYC team you're stuck there for at least a few years. Haha. It's not ideal. The taxes and the nanny state government in NYC are prohibitive.
ROFL
Everyone knows you athletes are some the clean-living-est mfers around. If you are sick and a pro athlete is in the same space as you, you will be healed.
Clearly in response to that Brooklyn Nets player who couldn’t play with his team, but COULD sit in the stands. Total jackassery.
Actually more likely in response to Aaron Judge not being able to play at Yankee Stadium. If it was about Kyrie, it would have been lifted earlier. Meanwhile, unvaccinated players from other teams could paly at NYC venus. As my friend Robin Lambert liked to say, “Stupid, stupid, stupid!”
