It has been repeatedly stated that the Russians have a corps of NCO’s. It is my understanding that their main weakness is that they don’t have a strong corps of NCO’s like we do and that is where they are showing weaknesses in execution of this war. NCOs run the military and make it work.
Full disclosure; USAF 1973-1978,
discharged rank E5.

When the elder Assad (Syria) lost the 1973 war, he blamed two of his generals, and had them dragged behind a vehicle throughout the streets of Damascus. Just an idea.

If that table gets any longer, the Russians will have to implement high speed jet from end to end.

“How many officers can you fire/arrest and still have an army?”

Ask Joe Stalin. He killed a bunch between the Winter War with Finland and the start of WW2. That was one reason the Germans did as well as they did at the start of Barbarossa, all the Russian generals had been purged.

I can’t see these young Russians going back to a 1950s Stalinist life style with a smile on their face and a song in their heart!

That's what we said about Iran a couple decades ago. They might not like it, but Russia demands compliance, not acceptance. I wouldn't underestimate Putin's willingness to crush dissent.

“It is my understanding that their main weakness is that they don’t have a strong corps of NCO’s”

i’ve read that the russian military NCO corps is corrupt to the core, too busy stealing everything that isn’t nailed down to attend to their actual duties of making sure the military is in a ready condition ...

I’m not and he could do it and they accept.

However I don’t equate Iranians with Russians.
In the Iran case there’s the power of religion to make people fall in line. That’s not the case here. There’s no religion motivation to do this nor is there the communist idelogical motivation. I don’t think “Doing & dying for the New Russian Empire!” works anymore. Maybe it would work against Asian or Muslim barbarians but not easily against brother Slavs.

The CCP didn’t fare well in it’s last dust-up with India.

There have been several “too good to be true” stories today.

This might be true. Time will tell.

But I haven’t heard much from the Coast of Asov today. Things were not going to so there.

Propaganda is fun, no? Its like watching a limited series on Paramount +.

NCOs in America make the military work. Not in Russia.

It’s just that, for some, not only is everything believed at face value but that what is essentially “war trivia” is presented as meaning much of anything.

When FDR died, Goebbels was said to have been in ecstasy. Surely such a great event portended a German victory in WW2.

So, for me, it’s the grasping at straws that brings on the giggle. I don’t care much either way how the latest EuroSlav urination contest turns out; we got our own fish to fry.

I would agree that a great many people are too willing to accept battlefield reports as factual. I think that's more likely to occur with people who don't have military experience.

For example, I suspect the Ukrainian estimates of Russians killed/equipment destroyed are based on routine battle damage assessments ("BDA's") reported by combat units, which are then collated and aggregated. I don't think the Ukrainian high command is deliberately lying about those.

The problem is that BDA's are not completely reliable. Lots of estimates -- as opposed to truly confirmed results which are inherently impossible to get all the time -- and maybe a bit of an incentive on the part of front line commanders to give "optimistic" reports. Basically, Vietnam-era body counts.

I’m betting the 51st Logistics Brigade has a rocket powered ejection seat installed in their CO’s command track.

Kamil Galeev describes why the Russian army is so weak. A very sad story, but as long as the thieves are running the country nothing will change
