Republican Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb vetoed a bill, HEA 1041, on Monday, that would prohibit biological male athletes who identify as females from participating in women’s sports in schools. This comes at the same time as the controversy surrounding University of Pennsylvania swimmer William “Lia” Thomas’ participation in the NCAA swimming championships, where Thomas competed against biological females and won.
A report from the Associated Press noted that Holcomb previously signaled support for the bill. In his veto letter, he wrote that the legislation “falls short” when it comes to fairness in K-12 sports in the state. He noted in the letter that other states that have enacted similar legislation have faced lawsuits, and that “the issues raised in these lawsuits” should have been brought forward to be addressed.

RINO?
No, that is a mainstream Republican.
Which is why without a MAGA endorsement, I no longer vote “Republican”. That is also why there will be several or maybe many either blank boxes or write-ins on my ballot.
He showed ‘em he has balls. What a guy.
“what was in the bill that he found objectionable?”
No hundred dollar bills or no Democrat OK?
Read the damn article.
I don’t care for Holcomb at all.
I’m surprised he signed the bill doing away with gun permits.
“I’ll continue to point out that Democrats are not our worst enemies. RINOs are.”
We know Democrats are morally and fiscally bankrupt, just by their very make-up, and we expect it; it is, though, disheartening when we find such duplicity among our own.
Until the women refuse to participate in events with male pretenders, this will continue.
Assistant Democrat.
Holcomb would make a great VP running mate choice for Pence. Go Hoosiers! (to Hell).
*Until the women refuse to participate in events with male pretenders, this will continue.*
Why put it on the athletes? It’s a threat to all women. They can deal with it at the ballot box. Won’t happen. Not my circus.
About the only way to make sports equitable is to allow 3 or 4 categories for each sport:
all male teams, determined by birth gender
all female teams, determined by birth gender
transition teams, for any identifying as trans-gender
male2female transition teams
female2male transition teams
Of course, there would still be controversy as to whether a trans-person was fully transitioned (snips) or just claiming to be emotional/mental transitionals (tucks).
Ironically, considering the women’s lib of the last half-century trying to get equitable sports for women, it is surprising they are not up in arms, as trans [especially m2f] are destroying women’s sports.
Democrats are not our worst enemies. RINOs are.

The problem is RINOs are not a subset of the GOP.
They constitute most of the GOP.
“I’m not a Vet, but I know what a dog is.”
Words from a female swim team Mom
Maybe he got confused. “But I just signed one that says you have a right to pack a gun.”
That excuse is almost always obfuscation to cover for cowardice.
The result of such vetoes of reasonable bills is that the left then construes that to mean the converse, that boys MUST be allowed to play on girls sports teams. Watch and see if this doesn't happen.
Here's what the Gov actually said...
“Finally, the presumption of the policy laid out in HEA 1041 is that there is an existing problem in K-12 sports in Indiana that requires further state government intervention. It implies that the goals of consistency and fairness in competitive female sports are not currently being met. After thorough review, I find no evidence to support either claim even if I support the overall goal,” Holcomb wrote. Later in the letter, he claimed that “not a single case of a male seeking to participate on a female team has completed the process established by IHSAA’s [Indiana High School Athletic Association] now decade-old policy” surrounding transgender athletes.
Ok... So there are existing statues already at work. The new legislation creates possible avenues for law suites.
Veto rejection letter for anyone who actually cares
Anyone versed in Indiana law that can find any holes in the legislation?
Call it what you will, “deep state” or “uniparty”.
It is what it is.
***************
It’s a fake party.
You didn’t read the veto letter and it shows.
We agree that keeping the sports teams separate out of fairness is the end goal. Socialists are trying to tear down everything to attain their own ends and must be stopped.
Are we really going to do that by making a mess of our own principles though?
A real Mike Pence Republican that governor is.
