A state with one of the largest percentages of White residents may ban critical race theory in classrooms — an effort that doesn’t sit well with a Jewish lawmaker who wants people to remember traditionally disenfranchised communities.
Wyoming state Rep. Andy Schwartz (D) stood before his colleagues on Thursday to share his concerns about moving forward with the HB97 bill, which would have banned the teaching and training of critical race theory.
After reviewing the bill, Schwartz found unacceptable provisions, such as one that allowed “controversial aspects of history” to only be taught “from a holistic point of view, a complete, neutral and unbiased perspective of the subject matter or prism.”
“But how is that possible?” he asked his fellow lawmakers, adding that it would be difficult for Native and Black Americans to accept.
“I am Jewish, and I cannot accept a neutral, judgment-free approach on the murder of 6 million Jews during World War II.”
Schwartz also pointed to a line in the bill that said no one should feel discomfort or distress when learning about difficult moments in history.
“In learning about the Holocaust, I have suffered a lifetime of discomfort and distress,” he said. “It is essential that as students learn about this dark time in our history, they do feel discomfort and distress.”
He insisted that the House vote “No” on the bill. Many of his Republican colleagues did. ...

Most of those who adhere to it are rich liberals that want to think their privilege is racial rather than being spoiled and the recipients of generational wealth.
Does he think students will think it was fine if they're not told to think otherwise? I believe that the holocaust is not even taught in most schools these days. Teaching it in a neutral way would be a step forward.

Was the legislator arguing to amend the bill, so as to improve it? No. He was arguing to defeat the bill. He talks of the holocaust to defeat this bill, saying he wants people to feel uncomfortable; and, so, he implicitly accuses his fellow Americans of being Nazis. The person is profoundly ungrateful for what this country did, during WWII, to defeat the axis powers and their crimes of aggressive war and genocide, not only against Jews but many other people as well.
While Germany was under Nazi control, even they - the Germans - aren’t to be condemned for the holocaust; nor the Japanese the for crimes of their government. First, that was a different generation, and only racists think guilt or any other moral characteristic passes from one generation to the next in the blood. And, second, while their are villains and saints among all people, the truth of the matter is that no population is immune to being controlled by an evil government.
The scary truth is that we could be the Jews OR the Nazis, and we could be Putin OR Zelenskyy. We should think seriously about human nature - about greed, power lust, and sadism - in the design of government. Thus we have checks and balances. We have a constitution, and a Republic, and we don’t have pure democracy.

My understanding of “holistic” teaching is to examine the continuing progress in the advance human rights, as well as in our material standard of living. Studying what is it about democratic countries that usually results in progress would be a good thing. But, teaching children that some people are, by the circumstances of their birth (and skin color) oppressors, while other people are by the circumstances of their birth innocent, is evil.
Schwartz is a little wimpy leftist who is the perfect example of why we conservative News strongly dislike our foolish co-religionists.

My mother’s mother came from there to the US with her younger brother about 1909-10. Her 6 brothers and sisters,plus their future children and grandchildren, plus cousins, etc. remained.
In 1942, the Nazis rounded up about 2,500 Jews there and executed everyone of them in a sanding on the outskirts of Lemberg.
If anyone survived they were sent to their deaths at Belzec concentration camp or to the gas chambers of Auschwitz, Jews a nd nonJews alike.
