A half hour move would be difficult to reconcile with navigation.

to move “measured time” in other than ‘1 hour’, would be a complete TRUCKUP!!fishing, hunting, astronomical-to include sunrise, moonrise, equinox and ecliptic, and many other ‘measured events’ would become FUBAR!!

The point of moving the clock one half hour ahead permanently is lost upon me. The original rationalization for “Daylight Saving Time” was for factory workers, whose shift ended at four PM, would have time to get home and work in their home garden plots for an extra hour before dark. This pretty much went away with flextime, and even more so in regards to remote working schedules.

Making it “year around” is even more bizarre, as during the month of December, school children boarding school buses would have to be ready two hours, or more, before the sun rises in the morning. This very scheme of making DST year around was tried back during the Jimmy Carter administration, and it was quickly abandoned after only one season, if I recall correctly.

But for Democrats, bad ideas never go away.....

That what my brother and I have said for years. Split the difference and leave it.

I agree with the 1/2 hour proposal. Something for everybody!

I vote to keep Standard time year-round or moving the clock one half hour ahead permanently.

The problem is that time zones go roughly along longitudinal lines and do not take into account the effects of latitude. We live near the Northern Border and the sun goes down here before 4:30 from the middle of November until the first week in January. I couldn't give a rip whether the morning part of my commute is in the dark, but the sun going down so early puts a big kink in what I am typically trying to accomplish. This also causes my wife seasonal depression issues. I always look forward to the middle of March when things get back to normal. So, I vote to keep daylight savings time all year round. People living in Phoenix, Miami, Houston, etc... can have standard time if they want; in the winter it stays light an hour longer than it does at our latitude anyway.

I think we should use Zulu time worldwide and get rid of daylight savings and time zones. Everyone could set their watches the same.
