Russia duped Europe into energy dependence by funding 'rabid environmental groups': experts

For years, world leaders have accused Russia of funding environmental groups in Europe to steer nations away from energy independence and strengthen Russia’s iron grip over the continent. As nations across the globe begin shunning Russian oil in response to the country’s invasion of Ukraine, U.S. leaders are also questioning how deep Russia’s ties go in the environmental community.

"The Russians actually fund some of the most rabid environmental groups in Europe because they sic them on the energy projects that aren’t Russian," James Carafano, vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News Digital in a recent phone interview.

Back in June 2014, just months after Russia annexed the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine, European leaders sounded off that Russia was using disinformation operations with environmental groups to steer countries away from fracking in favor of Russian oil.

Not really.

Russia has always had the oil and Europe did not. Hitler’s objectives included the Russian and Roumanian oil.

Germany had no real choice but to buy Russian oil

Meanwhile, Russia is in Syria to disrupt pipelines from the GCC into Europe.

If we were still energy independent, we could sell oil to Germany.

So the “Green New Deal” Biden, Harris, Bernie, AOC etc and all three very woke, “climate change” US corporations were funded by the Russians?
Who knew?

I’m actually disappointed that Putin’s miscalculation has caused Germany to wake up somewhat. Them shutting nuke plants and other assorted green lunacy would have kept the exodus of German manufacturing moving to the US due to much lower energy costs as what was happening under Trump during his first term, in progress once he got in again in 2024.

While that is true, there is the matter of transport and associated costs. Any one of the proposed pipelines across the Mediterranean sea would make American oil and gas in Europe only marginally competitive.

If Germany conquered Russia, the problem would be solved. NATO should conquer Russia for the oil

They could buy Alberta oil, but Europe is also funding the environmentalists over here to raise costs on US transportation in order to make themselves more competitive.

Russia duped Europe into energy dependence by funding 'rabid environmental groups': experts

So what?

Sounds like a smart move, to me, using European Marxists to subjugate arrogant Europeans, and where were these "Experts" when they should have been warning Europe and America about these 'rabid environmental groups'?

They all got what they deserved.

China more so than Russia. Nobody was duped. More like a scam. The Biden administration is full of investment fund management recklessly exposed to green energy funds.

Europe has vast oil reserves and shale that could be fracked.

It is the environmentalists that oppose all oil production in the EU.

With fracking, most nations could be energy independent, if they wanted to be.

That’s an interesting comment. I don’t know where such reserves are

I don’t believe they are in France, Germany, Italy or maybe Poland
