The truth about gas prices and oil production - Barf Alert
Washington ComPost ^ | Mar 15, 2022 | Glenn Kessler

Posted on 03/15/2022 10:03:43 AM PDT by where's_the_Outrage?

“It’s simply not true that my administration or policies are holding back domestic energy production. That’s simply not true.”

— President Biden, remarks while announcing a ban on Russian oil and gas exports, March 8

“Democrats want to blame surging prices on Russia. But the truth is, their out-of-touch policies are why we are here in the first place.”

In a moment of national unity against Russia’s attack on Ukraine, Democrats and Republicans are fighting passionately over the steep increase in the cost of gasoline. Prices have already risen sharply since Biden became president — and he acknowledged that his ban on Russian oil and gas exports could send them even higher.

Figuring out the root causes of inflation is subject to interpretation. Biden has been quick to claim that it’s mostly the result of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, tagging the latest inflation report as “Putin’s price hike.” But a credible case has also been made by some economists, including former treasury secretary Lawrence Summers and former Obama treasury official Steven Rattner, that the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief plan passed by Congress helped spark the current rise in prices across the board.

A separate debate is taking place over U.S. oil production and whether Biden administration policies have played a role. Partisans on all sides, as is often the case, are misrepresenting the facts, obscuring the complicated truth about oil production, gas prices and the role of renewables. Here’s a guide to that issue.

Gasoline prices have soared overnight. How is that possible?

Is the United States ramping up its oil production, or holding it back?

Can the U.S. truly change oil prices by encouraging more drilling and allowing pipelines?

Can the U.S. truly change oil prices by encouraging more drilling and allowing pipelines?

When compost starts out saying "The Truth", there's a 99% chance they are going to tell some whoppers. Take the 1st written line (non-quote):

"In a moment of national unity against Russia’s attack on Ukraine,"

Outright lie, there's no national unity.

Link is via MSN which means no paywall.

Also heard at the Washington Post: "I don't know how Trump won. Nobody I know voted for him."

One persons lie is another persons “truth”. IIRC branDUHn said if there is a choice between facts and truth, they’ll pick truth. HUH? Sort of like “We are going to do the right thing when the day is here and today is the day to do the right thing.......................” That sort of stoopid?

People need to start realizing that one of the reasons why everything costs more, including gasoline, is the dollar isn’t worth crap. Spend and print money is the root cause to inflation. This is a structural problem caused by Democrats and RINOs. Russian oil has only a little to do with it. Russia still has markets for its oil. Thus, in a global oil market supply has not be cut.

Come on folks, give Biden some credit. This time he remembered he’s president and not Kamala. So there is SOME progress.

Democrats and Neocons are united against Russia in favor of Ukraine.

Many of us don’t like either side, want nothing to do with the whole thing.

The same folks who twist into pretzels to explain why gas went from under $2/gallon with Trump to over $4/gallon with Biden, blamed every death in America on COVID.

“In a moment of national unity against Russia’s attack on Ukraine,”

Nobody asked me, or probably you, about jacking up the price of oil. On purpose. But we’re really socking it to ‘em now!

And I’m always relieved when the experts tell me what to think. It saves time I might spend thinking on my own.

And in other news, I hear they may raise the chocolate ration - from 30 grams to 20 !

Oil and gas is a very complex supply chain. It is easy for dishonest environ-mentals to squeeze one aspect of the chain, then proclaim innocence on another. This BS about oil leases is one example. What good are having leases if they are granted on low-prospect dry land and there are regulations on even exploring the leased land? What good are leases if you kill the pipeline that would be used to deliver the crude to a refinery? We are being treated to a juke and jive by the democrats and their accomplices.

Russia is going to win this, despite the supposed worldwide opposition to them. They’ve already received the concession that Zelensky will not join NATO.

All of this posturing for nothing.

They lie, because they know there is an audience that wants to believe their lies.

The reverse can also be true. The Trump’s administration’s opposite “green light” approach — few regulations and no restraints — led some oil drillers to invest in unprofitable wells.

So if they invested in unprofitable wells that means they lost $$$ and would have to make it up by raising prices on their existing inventories. Yet oil prices went down when President Trump was in office.

The world has sunk into a kind of madness where night is day, up is down, black is white. Everything is as a photographic negative, and only makes sense in a nightmare sort of way.

You won’t be able to get the crazy out of the world, so the only logical response is to enter into it and raise it to an incredible level of absurdity.

But sometimes even logic fails. Some things just have to collapse of their own weight.

The leftist media doesn’t know how to tell the truth. It’s been so long since they have told the truth they don’t even know they’re lying.

We got 3.8% of our oil from Russia last year. Produce that much more and we’d be right back where we were, a dollar per gallon increase has nothing to do with Putin, it’s all on Biden.

Return to Trump policies and we’d have $2/gallon gas and Sleepy Joe would be a hero.

Or what if those leases produce heavy or sour oil that can’t economically be defined? Oil is not oil.
