Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky appears to have accepted that his country will not become a member of NATO, one of the demands made by Russia before it invaded.

According to a translation of his comments in a speech, Zelensky said that Ukraine had "realized" it would not become part of the Western military alliance.

"For years we've heard the opposite, open doors, However, it is not," he said Tuesday according to Ukrainian news outlet, Trukha.

"Our people understand this, and we are beginning to count on our own strength," he added.

Not my comment but one one Twitter:

"If this comes to fruition, he’s done. Ukrainians will call for his head. And, this will be an acknowledgement that even the Ukrainians think the Russians had legitimate security concerns."

Good. Now step down and have the new Puppet ensure that the Ukraine remain a buffer state to NATO encroachment. Peace in our time, baby!

NATO is a joke. The US should pull out.

But, I thought the Russian forces were bogged down and war wasn't going well for the Russians.

Now, all Zelenksy has to do is recognize Crimea as part of Russia and the DPR and LPR as independent states and the war can end.

Europe will forgive and forget. Oil. Russia wins twice. They keep Ukraine and we get out.

Everybody knew that NATO won’t accept Ukraine for at least a decade. That’s not why Putin invaded. That’s just his red herring.

KGB Putin invaded because he wants the evil empire of his youth back.

The US is NATO. Joe Biden is our fearless leader because the US media told me so.

I think it is simply the recognition of the obvious. If the NATO countries accepted Ukraine they might actually get into a conflict with Russia. Wouldn’t want that to happen.

So he contributed to many people dying by trying to play a game to get NATO to come to his rescue. If he had said this from the beginning, a lot of misery could have been avoided.

Unfortunately, corrupt people like him are always on the make for enriching themselves and don’t really have the welfare of others in mind, no matter what they may claim.

I think our State Department was egging him on, painting a better picture than the reality on the ground.

This was a strategic mistake. It also shows that he is positioning to negotiate an end to hostilities. Mostly, it shows that he is not winning the war.

Nah, he invaded for the reasons he stated. He also knows that the US wants regime change and is trying to effect that through the use of Ukraine.

Our country has been pulling the same stunt over and over in Ukraine. Even determining their leaders.

Sad that Putin invaded, but all of this was avoidable.

All of this, for what?

I have said this is all unnecessary from the git-go.

Irrelevant. Ukraine was going to get invaded one way or the other. Putin wants to rebuild the USSR and Ukraine is part of his plan.

Don’t get distracted by his BS justifications. This is all about his ego.

Irrespective of the merits of this particular issue I am reminded of the saying “never give in to a bully.” In any event it may help appease the beast and add movement toward ending the invasion.
