Jane Timken is taking aim at President Biden over border security as part of her statewide ad blitz in her bid for the Republican Senate nomination in Ohio’s crowded and competitive GOP primary.
"Under Joe Biden, illegal immigrants and drug cartels are flooding Ohio with heroin and fentanyl. Now opioid deaths are surging again," the former Ohio GOP chair charges in the ad, which was shared first with Fox News on Tuesday. "I’m Jane Timken, and I know border security is national security."

She's Rob Portman's preferred successor
She's in 4th in the latest poll
Oh, and two reporters wrote this story, so that means this is a push story and who the media wants the nominee to be
Gibbons or Mandel are preferable
Oh, and one other thing. She says right now that “border security is national security.” But once safely elected, that’ll be out the window and it’ll be “climate change is national security.”
So Ohioans, reject this Establishment tool!
There's usually a mockingbird directing the flunky or flunkies in the wording of the memo.
WOW! Five (5) candidates! That is more than enough to fracture the Republican vote. With help from the media, that alone will probably assure the Democrats a win, with little or no cheating required.
Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Guardians? WHF?
What happened to the Indians?
WHO does Trump endorse if anyone?
What does the story have to do with Romney?????
“WHO does Trump endorse if anyone?
What does the story have to do with Romney?????”
Trump hasn’t endorsed anybody.
The allusion to Romney is a reminder of another phony conservative. Timken says she’s “Trump tough.” I’ve seen that phrase elsewhere too so it’s probably poll-tested.
Essentially, like Romney, she’s saying “I just need to pretend to be conservative enough to get the nomination and then get elected. Then, when safely elected I can be another Rob Portman.”
“WOW! Five (5) candidates! That is more than enough to fracture the Republican vote. With help from the media, that alone will probably assure the Democrats a win, with little or no cheating required.”
Relax, that’s just for the primary. As is customary, there will be just 1 Republican on the ballot in November and it won’t be Timken — otherwise say hello to Senator Tim Ryan, who might actually be the more conservative of the 2. At least he’s going to sound that way in the campaign but no Republican voters should be fooled.
(Then again this state keeps electing Sherrod “Wife Beater” Brown; Republicans, like Sean Parnell in PA, have been ‘cancelled’ for doing far less, but the media totally ignores Democrat violence when not actively encouraging it.)
“She’s Rob Portman’s preferred successor”
And that’s enough to make me vomit. I wouldn’t vote for her on a bad bet.
“Gibbons or Mandel are preferable”
Mandel is a little sketchy, don’t know much about Gibbons, but Rand Paul endorses him. That carries weight with me.
nope nope nope nope nope nope nope.
never going to vote for her.
Never going to give her a chance.
Not even remotely interested.
Makes sense...
It’s impossible to know who is good in every state.
I trust Trump. He made it his job, so who is he supporting in tis race?
Yes he’s made some bad picks. But I would not have done better. It’s tough when you are working with swamp dwellers and only have swamp dwellers to choose from.
I think he knows better now. He is a good man, and so tends to think others are good. Until they let him down. And SO MANY have let him down. (Starting with Sessions, who he should have fired on day one)
Blah blah blah
Telling us what we want to hear so she gets the job.
Nope, I’m not voting for her. I made the mistake for years voting for Portman....I believed him. :-0
Stupid name. They would have been better off calling themselves the Cleveland Baseball Team.
Mandel has been the most “pro-Trump” of all, but you’re right, he has a corrupt background in that he used his campaign money to fund his hottie. (I don’t know if this was before or after his divorce).
Vance has said a lot of Trumpy things, but three years ago he was a solid neverTrumper.
Don’t know anything about Gibbons, which is a bad thing. It means I’ve never seen references of him supporting MAGA or any MAGA policies before.
I just moved to Ohio, and I registered to vote last week.
Assuming nothing changes between now and primary day, I’m going to vote for Gibbons. I’d rank Mandel second. The other three major candidates are unacceptable to me: Timken, because she’s from old money (Timken Ball Bearings) and would be a Rockefeller/Clifford Case/Charles Mathias type RINO; JD Vance (appears to be an untrustworthy slimeball); and Matt Dolan (father owns the Cleveland baseball team and gutlessly renamed the team the Guardians, probably to assuage Progressive Insurance which is a team sponsor), talks tough but went to the same college as Ed Markey.
I also want to vote against lockdown Mike DeWine; I’ll probably vote for Jim Renacci, but I am open to others.
I’m not sure what Congressional district I’m in. Currently, I’m represented by Bob Gibbs; I saw a map that shows I’m now in the same district with Bob Latta (who is from Bowling Green, about 90 miles west of where I live in the west Cleveland suburbs). At least Latta is a lot better than my daughter’s current congresscritter, Marxist Marcy Kaptur (my daughter also lives in a western suburb of Cleveland but is represented by a person from Toledo, over 90 miles west).
We’re pretty much on the same page. I’m closer to Akron, my rep is Ryan, ugh. That’s why I specify that I’m in the blue part of Ohio. And that often gives me the blues.
I’ll vote Renacci only because DeWine is so horrid. Renacci is only a wee bit better.
FOR SURE!
I’m in Ohio and I’ll never vote for her.
Wasn’t she quoted as saying, “I do ‘t know”, when asked if he would have voted to impeach Trump?
Except he’s absolute damaged goods. Had he not taken the lead by his pecker, he’d be the 51st GOP Senator instead of Sherrod Brown.
Gibbons is the only choice.
She has openly attacked Trump. Portman (Deep State Bushite) promoted her. Enough for me to say “No Thanks” even though bombards my in-bin daily with please for cash.
