In a roundtable discussion in Doral, Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis warned that COVID rules will suddenly return after the midterm elections if Democrats are allowed to remain in power.
“The minute those elections are over,” he said, “they will impose mandates if they feel the need to do that. They will impose restrictions.”
Criticizing the recent lifting of restrictions in blue states as mere political moves aimed at bolstering failing election campaigns, the Florida governor said, “So when you start to see them kind of re-evaluate or say all this, just understand this. The science didn’t change. The medical science didn’t change. The political science changed. They feel the heat.”
“They know that voters have been tired of perpetual lockdown policies,” the Republican continued. “They know that they have basically offered no off ramp and they know that they’re fixing to be whooped at the polls, so that’s causing the epiphany.”
In Hawaii, one of the last states to lift its indoor mask mandate, which will end March 25, the state’s governor said he is “ready to reinstitute the mask policy if COVID case numbers surge.”
DeSantis had also raised the issue on Twitter, saying, “The medical science on forced masking children didn’t change — the political science did. In Florida, we never imposed state mask mandates, and we liberated children and parents from the local authorities that did. We hope every jurisdiction will follow suit.”
He’s right. The dems’ “getting religion” on the lifting of mandates and lockdowns is completely unrelated to anything pertaining to pragmatism. They acted on reading the political tea leaves, and if the remain in power, they’ll be itching to clamp down once again for any rationale they can dig up or invent.
Once again, DeSantis is exactly right.
Of course they will lock everyone up after Nov.
Look at the calendar.
Prolonging the Plannedemic Puritanism appears to be the goal.
If a third Thanksgiving, a third Christmas, a third Easter, and a third Independence Day, can be squelched through fearmongering (if not outright government oppression) it may not be much longer before people will not only not wish to return to pre-Plannedemic celebrations—being deathly afraid of what “might” happen-- but will actually begin to lose the memory of what such celebrations were like.

Our civil society included more or less unlimited freedom of association.
This freedom was enjoyed and exercised in seemingly every permutation people could dream up.
Then COVID came and everyone seemingly grew petrified of being anywhere near anywhere else.
This has been a huge loss.
The donkey party seems bent on making it a permanent loss.
Who’s to tell them they can’t do that? People seem to be on the verge of giving this entire right up, and doing so on their own volition, almost as part of a lifestyle change—as if it constitutes some kind of inevitable social “evolution” on the part of the human race that only cave men would oppose.
