Congress has once again deferred making a decision as to whether to finally end draft registration or to expand it to include young women as well as young men. The final version of this year’s annual National Defense [sic] Authorization Act (NDAA) approved by Congress on December 14th and signed into law on December 27th by President Biden makes no change to the provisions of the Military Selective Service Act (MSSA) which authorize the president to order men, but not women, to register with the Selective Service System (SSS) for a possible military draft. This leaves the current Selective Service registration and address reporting requirements (applicable to young men but not women) in effect, and the issue unresolved.
Earlier this year, both the House and Senate Armed Services Committees voted, without debate or hearings on Selective Service, to recommend that the Fiscal Year 2022 NDAA include a section that would have expanded draft registration to women. A version of the NDAA including this provision was approved by the full House of Representatives (without a floor vote on any of the proposed amendments related to Selective Service), and was on the verge of approval in the Senate.
However, in the face of a deadlock in the Senate over this and other provisions of the NDAA, House and Senate leaders worked out a back-room package of compromises that included removing the section of the FY 2022 NDAA that would have expanded draft registration to women.

This has been debated at least since the first gulf war. A military draft should be equal for women and men since that’s what women claim they want.
The draft at least has arguable roots in the second amendment.
True but the Federal uniparty government has opposed the legitimate militias defending the country at the southern border and has aided and abetted the criminal alien invaders.
The Federal draft is null and void.
Regarding the requirement to register in the Selective Service system, how are they currently handling those biological males who decide they are women and those biological females who decide they are male? Who has to register and who doesn’t?
“Well look at all the shootings we have going on every week in this country, especially Chicago.”
If the big city shooters spent some time in the military, maybe they’d learn to shoot accurately and hit their intended target, not the innocent.
Maybe it would cut down on the shooting of unintended people in the big cities is they established shooting ranges so the big city shooters could practice.
My daughters will never register for the draft. A country that needs to draft women to defend it is not worth saving.
The majority of today's childbearing age women (millennial and younger) are unmarried. They tend to be either too self-absorbed or too diseased from their promiscuity to ever have children. Our birth rate is now far below the replacement rate. There is no reason to have a draft because the communists have already succeeded in destroying our society. We have already surrendered to the enemy without even going to war first.
Not a question of legality.
Military has already done the studies that females in infantry squads reduce capability and cause problems that arent there when they are absent. Physicslly stronger and faster units of men only are the best at winning and meeting mission objectives. Its not deniable, its been proven despite wokefolk wanting to prove the opposite.
If they want to win wars and keep risks as low as possible, you dont put women in infantry squads. There will be plenty of opportunity to serve in needed support and logistics roles. Putting people where they are the best use is critical to military success. Not all guys they have are optimal in combat. Its not like they didnt put those guys in noncombat roles and they could still be useful and productive.
Yes it is a question of illegality. The military is now legally prohibited from having any MOS reserved for males only.
I get that.
At the same time the military can put anyone where it wants to. If women in infantry units decreases capability and mission success, it can put them in other places where they won’t jeopardize fighting units and mission success probabilities.
