President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised in the evening to talk about the results of negotiations with Russia, the next round of which is taking place on Monday.

"The video meeting of the delegations has already started today. It continues. Everyone is waiting for news. We will definitely report back in the evening," he said in a video statement and on Monday afternoon.

At the same time, he called on the Ukrainians to "hold on, fight to win." "To come to the peace deserved by Ukrainians. Unbiased peace. With security guarantees for our state, our people. And to put it on paper in negotiations, complex negotiations," he said.

Zelensky said "the Russian state has been preparing for war for decades. They have accumulated a significant military resource for the sake of evil, for the sake of conquering their neighbors. And for the sake of destroying Ukraine, Europe as we know it, which we value."

The bottom line, President Zelensky wants the war to continue.

Probably he sees that as a promising prospect.

Setting aside for the moment the question of whether the Russians would, in the end, actually abide by any Russia-Ukraine Treaty, stopping the war is very much in the best interests of both sides.

The Ukrainian requirement for security guarantees is going to be a problem. Only NATO or at least some of the NATO countries could do that, could tell the Ukrainians that we will defend you if you are attacked by Russia. Would Biden sign up for that? Should he? Would Trump?

Our guarantees that NATO would have their back when they gave up their nukes is why they’re in this mess. Russia’s guarantees of anything are worthless. They just lie and then do whatever they want while suckers stick by the agreement. Lesson: don’t give up your nukes and rely only on yourself.

Zelensky is finally getting it. The only path forward for Ukraine is to negotiate the 4-point plan put forth by Putin to end the violence. Zelensky can talk tough but in the end the longer he delays the more Russia will secure territory like Maripol in the south and weaken Ukraine’s sovereignty. The cavalry is not coming, and the handwriting is on the wall.

I don’t know why he thinks he can keep holding out for a better deal. Never get high on your facebook likes.

Lots of missiles on hand is the best security guarantee he will get.

Once Russia withdraws they won’t be willing to invade Ukraine again for a log time. Unless they get a stupid concession like Ukraine disarming. Then you can guarantee they will try it again.

I’m seeing reports that Russia sent prisoners and conscripts. And they are just abandoning the equipment in Ukraine and surrendering. Give a prisoner a $1 million dollar piece of equipment and order him into another country. What could possibly go wrong?

“..President Zelensky wants the war to continue...”

I don’t think so. He wants peace but not capitulation. I do believe it is Biden and his masters who “wants the war to continue.”
