A video recognition guide to all known models of tanks seen in the Ukraine conflict, for use in evaluating those vast numbers of photos and videos pouring out of Ukraine, as seen on social media and news coverage. This is for tanks only, unfortunately, as there are also large numbers of other armored vehicles involved.
This is a very confusing subject, and this guide may be of assistance in resolving questions such as which side a captured or destroyed tank was on, whether it was a new or old model, whether it was well equipped or not, etc.
Our Abrams tanks would tear those Ruskie tanks to shreds.
Thank you!
Not looking at the youtube - Are there particular publicized pictures that have misidentified the tanks?
Can this be made available on Rumble?
That may or may not be true, depending on the model of Abrams tank, of which there are quite a few if one includes export models. And then there is the matter of crew expertise, specific upgrades especially to fire control equipment, and available ammunition (there are several generations of US and Russian APFSDS rounds). Its really quite a mess.
I dont know. If you can post a youtube video on Rumble at all I suppose. You may want to ask the video owner, Red Effect.
I have no idea. I havent personally run across any cases of that, but then I am no expert. The question of ownership has been raised constantly though.
Of I’m referring to an ideal situation. But it’s down to crew training and discipline.
Best to get a basic onderstandind of Russian tank types before viewing. Fast talking with accent makes it hard to follow.

This is the sort of detail one needs to get into to evaluate “open source” stuff like videos.

The guide will be updated over time and new models, if evidence of them being used comes up, will be added.

Unless you’re fighting on the open plains or desert, tanks without aggressive infantry support aren’t that useful any more. Even back in WW2 days before high precision shoulder fired munitions, Patton understood this.
Z are the southern Russian units
Z in a box are the units out of Crimea
O are the ones out of Byelorussia
V are the marines
X are the Roman Kadriov Chechens (real bad dudes)
A are the Spetnaz
Too technical for most people.
For the average person, Russian tanks and Ukrainian tanks look a lot alike.
The Russians, I think, were spray painting a “Z” on their tanks.
