Elon Musk's Space X Might Need to Rescue an American Astronaut Stranded by Russia

Mr. Elon Musk, it looks like America and one of her astronauts aboard the International Space Station might need you. You know, the place where your space capsules have gone to a number of times, and have allowed the United States to not depend on the Russians for a lift up and back home.

Thankfully, the private sector, led by Elon Musk and his company Space X in conjunction with NASA, recently allowed the United States to forgo depending in Russia for rides, and now can send manned rockets from the United States’ soil again.

In all honesty, I have no idea if Dmitry Rogozin is being serious about leaving any American on the station while defending his boss Putin’s boneheaded decision to invade Ukraine. That he would even joke about such a thing, when tensions are at an all-time high over this illegal action, shows that, once again, the Russians do public relations about as well as Kamala Harris taking a European tour reassures our allies.

Badly.

"That bluster is a strange immature mind set that I don’t understand. Most mature and rational people don’t resort to things on par with an 8 year-old school yard bully."

To understand, remember that Russia, Soviet Union, and now Russia have used this simple-minded propaganda for decades and decades. Remember Pravda? It's no different from our own liberal/socialists MSM that pumps out the same BS talking points every day. Repeat, repeat, repeat.

Can't remember who said it: "If you tell a big enough lie often enough, people will come to believe it". Goebbels, Hitler's Minister of Communications? May have the quote and Goebbels position incorrect.

According to Adam Smith writing in Wealth of Nations, Finance is the real ghetto.

Oh sure, it's clean inside soft-hands 'work' but wealth is the product of muscles and minds - like, among other enterprises, farming.

Agriculture is only 2% of GDP. Pretty ghetto, low tech. Can be done anywhere. Manufacturing requires huge capital investment, technical know how and is vital to any nations security. They call countries that are building an industrial base “developing” nations. So is the USA an “undeveloping” nation in the process of de-industrializing? I think so.

Ok, sorry I rained on your "farmers are stupid" or "farmers are inconsequential" meme.

We'll see how that plays out in the near future, I suspect.

IMO, in a political sense farmers are OVER represented relative to their economic importance to society. They hold some spell over the GOP.

Rescue the American, then have the X37-B pay a visit.

"It’s HYSTERICAL. We need Russia to sign-off on the Iran deal so that the price of oil will drastically decline, thereby cutting off Russia’s major source of hard currency.

Yep.

Well, Russia can figure that out too. So they’ve submitted some ‘conditions’ before they’ll sign."

We had cheap gas throughout President Trump, who gave Iran the finger at the inaguration, and after Trump sent Soleimani to his 70 Helen Thomas in 2020, we had our cheapest gas (1.79) in a decade.

Axiom: no Iran deal + assassinate Iranian screwballs = cheap gas prices.

No need to get panties in a twist. Musk is sending 4 private citizens to the ISS at the end of the month. His fifth crew mission to the ISS. Crew Dragon holds 7 so the American can catch a ride home when the tourists leave the IS it’s a HUGE NOTHINGBURGER. It is great publicity for Space x though.

https://techcrunch.com/2022/03/09/spacex-launches-48-more-starlink-satellites-on-an-american-broomstick/

“The next SpaceX launch is not a Starlink mission, but a crewed one. Scheduled for launch on March 30, the Axiom-1 mission will be the first all-private flight to the International Space Station (ISS). SpaceX already has quite a bit of experience on the crewed-mission front — it’s already flown four NASA crews to the ISS, plus the Inspiration 4 mission, whose all-civilian crew orbited the Earth in a Crew Dragon capsule for several days.”

The American should refuse to ride on Russian crap. Elon is sending 4 tourists yes tourists to the international space station at the end of the month on his 100% private spaceship. That spaceship holds 7 so the American can and more importantly should come home in an American rocket. No American should ever set foot in a Russian rocket again for any reason. Musk already did the math and said his Crew Dragon ship can take over the population duties from Soyuz to keep the ISS in its proper orbital slot. At the tempo SpaceX is making second stages they could keep the ISS up indefinitely up. They have the only reusable rocket on earth with some boosters crossing ten uses its science fiction from just ten years ago. NASA only in their wetdreams could hope to match not only SpaceX tempo but cost per kg to orbit. SpaceX will launch 2/3 of ALL the mass humans put into orbit this year read that again. Once starship flys which it’s ready but the FAA is holding it’s flight permits then 90% of ALL the mass put into orbit per year will be on Musk rockets he is the Edison of our century.

I wasn’t talking about food, either. I was illustrating a principle and how it application can fail in the real world.

What about the Astronauts family? Also, not sure your above stated mission will happen with the current war in Ukraine. We'll see, but I still believe the Cosmonauts will not abandon the American. If so, it would be the worst public relations that the Russian space program could have. Their rocket program would die.

I'm still astounded how advanced Musk's SpaceX program is, even with some help from NASA now. Pretty sure he doesn't need NASA, plus you have Boeing and Bezo's Blue Origin competition.

The future of space travel is for the civilian visionaries. NASA helped, but will be delegated to a minor player with their diversity crap. What a shame...they put us on the moon. I'd bet many of their scientists, rocket engineers, and other space experts are in line to sign with Musk, Bezos, or others.

Just shows to go ya, PC woke liberalism screws up anything it touches. Up and away with the capitalist visionaries!

That’s why the upcoming SpaceX flight to the ISS was referred to.

if he does, he should negotiate a cessation of all regulatory issues facing his company. he’d in the driver’s seat here.

# They should do it, even if they don’t have to. To drive the point home to Russia that it’s space-faring days are behind it.

Really? Doesn’t Russia have the ability to put men in space?

The U.S. doesn’t. Which nation really has it’s space-faring days behind it?

I think those who travel through space have a bond that transcends politics. Although prepared to fight each other I believe submariners are similar.

Indeed. all the tech in the world is useless when you are starving to death. Corporate America is so short sighted, that they still think it’s a good idea to import ‘food’ of dubious quality from 3rd world crapholes produced by slave labor. It’s insane, and yet you’ll even find cheerleaders for that here on FR
