Jussie Smollett’s sister expressed outrage that the actor was sentenced to jail for 150 days and ordered to pay more than $120,000 in restitution for faking a hate crime against himself.
After sentencing Thursday, 41-year-old Jazz Smollett claimed her brother was innocent and criticized how the case was handled, WFMZ reported Friday.
“This should not be a controversial statement because it is the absolute truth. What should be controversial is the entire miscarriage of justice his whole ordeal has been,” she said.
Jussie Smollett was sentenced Thursday to 150 days in Cook County jail and 30 months on probation, and ordered to pay restitution of $120,106 and a fine of $25,000, according to Breitbart News.
“Smollett’s sentencing comes three months after the disgraced actor was found guilty of five counts of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report after he hired two brothers from Nigeria to stage a fake hate crime against him,” the outlet said.
Meanwhile, Jocqui Smollett claimed his sibling was a “complete victim,” telling reporters, “He was attacked and he is now going to jail for being attacked. I saw my brother get locked up within two weeks for being attacked. Do you know how crazy that is?”
Following his sentencing Smollett said he was innocent and told the courtroom he was not suicidal:
“You’re just a charlatan, pretending to be a victim of a hate crime,” Judge James Linn told him, adding, “Your very name has become an adverb for ‘lying.'”
However, Smollett’s elder brother, Jojo Smollett, claimed, “[The judge] shamed my brother, he spoke about his arrogance. He doesn’t know the struggles my brother is encountering. He doesn’t know anything that he’s dealing with.”
“In 2022, we don’t shame people like this. Alright? He basically called him a mental case,” he stated.

Jussie fought, bravely, with a Subway tuna sandwich.
So sue somebody for 100 trillion dollars.
Victim of his upbringing.
Being liberal, being Democrat never means being responsible.
Interestingly, and surprisingly, the sister and other family members seemed like intelligent people. I was surprised. Here, when family members do that sort of speech after something happens to their loved one, we chalk it up to them being stupid, impaired and/or uninformed. And, thereby excused.
But with Jussie’s family, it is crystal clear that they are a clan of grifters. Every bit as much charlatans as Jussie. So, contrary to what the Judge proclaimed, his actions are, entirely consistent with his family’s values.
Before or after staging his stupendously stupid hate crime against white folk?
Well, we know where he got his attitude from.
CC
a lot of power in that victimhood. its addicting.
they refuse to give it up even when it becomes a farce
Jazz, Jussie and Jojo.
What a bunch of jerks.
Seems to be genetic
Black privilege. He received a very light sentence because of his skin color.
When most of those that support SmollettIdiot and proclaim that what he did was right, that he is innocent, and a victim, etc., etc., blah, blah end with Smollett, yeah.........../s
Looking for a pay out through racism. They will get the right judge to overturn this
Hearing opinions like these really angers me.
Now, we do have the First Amendment, so I do understand that the government cannot take Smollett’s family and force them to shut up.
But I have observed that companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Google have very successfully forced people to shut up. Companies are not bound by the First Amendment, so they can censor people as much as they like.
Which is why I’m thinking of starting a company that will visit people like the Smollett’s and beat them with sticks until they shut up. Seems like a 21st century solution.
Oh he is a victim- of his own crappy acting abilities.
