The EU has asked Israel to look into the possibility of transferring natural gas to Europe via Egypt.
In light of the fact that Israel has a large amount of natural gas and in the wake of its ability to supply it in the immediate term thanks to the activities of some of the reservoirs, the Ministry of Energy has recently begun examining an initial request from the EU to allocate quotas of gas to the continent, Channel 13 News reported on Thursday.
According to the report, the EU’s appeal to Israel comes amid a shortage of natural gas that could be generated in Europe as a result of the embargo and a boycott of Russia's energy resources. European officials hope that Israeli gas exports will help overcome at least some of the shortages.
The government has already begun to examine the plan, and it may be necessary to make a decision in the coming weeks and even change existing decisions regarding the permitted quota of gas exports to Europe.

Israel could supply most of the gas needs of Europe that are provided by Russia. However, President Biden recently forced the stoppage of the Eastern Mediterranean Pipeline with the excuse that Turkey’s Erdogan ‘didn’t like it’. It would be possible to complete the connection through friendly countries in a fairly short amount of time, and just the agreement to do so might put some pressure on Putin. Israel and Cyprus have made major gas discoveries in the last twenty years that are yet to be fully developed, and could bring reserves approaching 100 TCF. The Israeli Discovery was by a partnership between Noble Oil Co (Samedan)., Ardmore,OK, USA, and Delek Energy, Israel: https://themedialine.org/news/noble-energy-the-power-line-linking-israel-across-the-middle-east/ Leviathan Gas Field is off the Israel coast near Lebanon. Current deliverability is considered to be at least 200 million cubic feet per day plus substantial amounts of oil and condensate. Current Russian imports to Europe appears to be about 14 BCFD, so with additional production work and additional development, the existing fields in the eastern Med could provide a big chunk of Europe’s requirements.

Correction - Could replace most of the Russian supply of Europe with additional work and the willingness to do so. If you added the addition of LNG from the USA, it would not take long to replace Russian production in Europe. This might be of concern to Putin.
