I feel stronger at age 82, and have far less health issues now than I had at age 57. Smartest thing I did in my life was to give up my well paying job at 57 and take up playing golf 5 days a week. Not only my blood sugar stabilized, blood pressure stabilized, panic attacks went away, but even more amazing to me is my hip joint pain disappeared. That is what walking 30 miles a week on a hilly golf course (Orchard Hills country club in Washougal, WA) does to the body. Now I quit golf after moving to Florida, and it is daily exercise on treadmill & weight machines in the community gym.
I kid you not, I have new muscles which I never had. And I am now convinced, old age should not make you weak, feeble and lose balance. That daily exercise is a miracle which no doctor ever clued me in. I am looking forward to posting my exercise video on my 100th birthday, if I do not get lazy and quit the gym routine.

Awesome post. Makes me a little less worried about starting a small farm at age 56 (not my only source of income though).
The daily exercise is half the reason I'm doing this. My employment type is very sedentary work.
